A gathering place for friends.

Name:talentedone

Today

A very busy morning full of baking and household responsibilities.  I am just waiting for the brownies and spice cake to finish baking before I return to organizing my jewelry supplies.

Today will be a "bit of everything" day.  Taking care of Hubby's lunches, the household, bookkeeping and some event planning.  No wonder I don't have much time to play in FT.

Oh well, that is life.  I would far rather be busy than sitting around with nothing to do.

I am still in the listening to music mode.  I checked a few cds out of the library and am trying to determine if they are worth purchasing.  This is such an easier way to see if the cd is truly something I like.  We went and looked at the prices of cds over the weekend.  They range from a sale price of $9.99 all the way up to $25.  Now, to us, $25 is a bit steep especially when you check and find out the cd is only 30 minutes long.  Sorry, but we will pass on that one.

I have a few horror movies to watch today while I putter around the house.  Thank you to the people who suggested the dvds.  I also picked up "Alvin and the Chipmonks" and a couple of other fairly recent dvds.

Ahh, the aroma of baking goods.  If only I could figure out a way to bottle that scent.  I know of a cologne which has the scent of Cedar wood.  It is wonderful.

I decided to sell my crafts without outside help.  There are no guarantees when others get involved and your product can sit forever without selling.  It is all in the presentation.  I was telling a friend this morning that I believe the purpose of having a window as part of a shop is to encourage potential customers to come inside and find out what else there is to tempt the senses.  Some store fronts are so crowded, it is difficult to see the items.  There are times I will sit in an area where I am able to see many store fronts at once.  I will watch people look in the windows at the displays.  I noticed the non-cluttered stores usually have more people who venture inside.  People are very interesting.

Time to take out the baking to cool.  Then back to the jewelry supplies.  Such is the life of a busy woman.

Oh, Hubby presented me with a "Zenie Bottle" yesterday.  It is done in reds and is quite pretty.

  • Good, we like presents. I have no idea what a Zenie Bottle is, and google is being quite uncooperative at the moment, but it's pretty and it's a gift. That'll do.

    Good proverb too.

  • It looks like a Genie Bottle but cannot be opened. It is clear but the contents are red and if you shake the bottle, the swirls make all sorts of patterns.

Yep, it looks like the company is out of business. Either that or they are under a different name. Oh well.

  • Yummm cake! You should have played the quiz in my tourney yesterday. It was all about baking.

Enjoy Alvin and the Chipmunks. My daughter loves that movie and I think it's cute.

  • I found a picture:

I think it was something to do with marketing a social networking site. It's difficult to find anything about it, so perhaps they have finished. Pretty bottle though.

  • Lesley, you are good. Have you ever considered doing investigative work? You are spot on.

I am so proud of you. Outstanding!

  • Thanks, Mo [giggle] but I can't take any credit for it. I'd be nowhere without my pal Google. I have done the odd bit of unpaid investigation, for personal gratification, and was surprised when I found out how easy it is to upset people with your findings. :(

  • You upset someone? I am very certain your investigation was not done to harm anyone.

Here, you may have one of my smiles.
    :)

  • Ooh thank you - I'll take all the smiles I can.

OK - example. My Sunday morning visitor was very cagey about her husband. I suspect, from the silent wince when I said something about domestic violence, that she had good reason not to want him to find her.

One bored day, I googled her name, and found a friend of 40 years earlier was looking for her. Her first reaction was "Oh how exciting." Then she thought about it for an hour or so, and rang me back. I think she'd written her speech down - she said she wasn't at all happy that I'd gone looking for her, she didn't want me to contact the old friend, thank you, and put the phone down. Did she think that looking her up was the same as putting her there? No, more likely, I suspect, is that she was scared it might be a trick for her ex to find her. I haven't seen or heard from her since, and don't miss her a bit. All she ever did was drop in after church and talk rubbish. My Sunday mornings are mine again.
