One year old on Paddy's Day
The turn of the clock at midnight ushers in a new morning which will be celebrated across the world as Saint Patrick's Day is upon us. Looking backward I was startled to realize that I joined Fun Trivia on this very day but one year ago.
I am one year old today.
In celebration and recognition of the occasion I thought it only appropriate to post a series of Limericks in honor of FT.
So . . . Happy Paddy's Day everyone!
Fun Trivia beckoned to me
On Paddys day, now dont you see
I thought I might play
Just a quiz every day
One year gone, and Im hooked youll agree
Ive met some good friends on the board
Many whom I have adored
Theyre often on-line
With friendship divine
No badge is a finer reward
Some quizzes, they challenge my brain
Their authors intended the pain
The timed ones are tough
Im just not fast enough
2 for 10, just an effort in vain
For admins. And editors, all
Thanks for accepting the call
Advice and critique
Brought week after week
Help our quizzes stand out and enthrall
For Terry, the FT designer
His efforts are much more then minor
He made us this site
Where we all delight
Thanks Terry! (no legacy finer)
A special 16th birthday shout out to Val's son.
Dans birth was on St. Paddys Day
16 years ago, so Val would say
A man from a boy
His Moms pride and joy
The party should be some soiree
And here are some more conventional Limericks in honor of the bawdy bar room atmosphere from which many are born!
A young Irish lad without luck
Imbibed at the pub with such pluck
He was killed by the drink
But not what you think
twas hit by a big Guinness truck
A young lass named Betsy McGee
Offered her charms for a fee
Her friends thought her lazy
But she wasnt crazy
She lies around, just not for free
I once knew a poet, quite lusty
Who wrote of things bawdy and busty
He got in the pants
Of his main sycophants
As his notebook lay unused and dusty
Erin Go Bragh! (y'all)

Bob, as an old sailor, I know some limerics that we can't share here, but if you listen I bet you can hear.

I hear you loud and clear, my friend. It seems we may have sailed on some of the same seas of life. I have many more pent in my head, and there they shall stay, until an evening's carousing and several beers too many, may jar them loose. (but only in the proper company)

Happy FT Birthday! It's amazing how fast the time flies and I'm glad you stumbled on here to "play just a quiz every day". I wonder how many of us have said that.

As the wife of an old sailor, I probably heard most of them.
Happy first birthday, Bob, and happy 16th, son of Val.
