The Grand Adventures of guitargoddess

Random musings, boring stories, or possibly a lot of whining

End of May Update

Well, well.. can't remember what I last updated you good people of FT about, but basically there is nothing new going on with me! I've been finished all my exams and essays for one month and 4 days, and my student status has been officially upgraded to Graduated. The convocation ceremony is on June 12, but I had said way back in January when they made me declare my intention to graduate in June that I will not be attending, because I assumed I would be working by June. Well I am still unemployed... but still don't really feel the need to go to the ceremony. It's not like I have close friends in my program that I want to graduate with, and neither me nor my family care to sit through 3 hours of people talking for me to walk across the stage for 30 seconds. I am fine receiving my piece of paper in the mail. I think it's stupid that they wait two months after the end of school to have the grad ceremony. Many people are working full time, want to start traveling, have left town if they are from somewhere else, etc.. But oh well.

So yep, no school, no job.. no life, lol. I got a pretty new laptop though :) I like it a lot! I am also trying to work on the whole exercising more/losing weight thing.. I think I should go clothes shopping everyday, because every time I do, I realise how fat I am, and come home and get on the treadmill!

  • Good Job, GG! A nice little break between school ending, and work finding, is a good thing! Take advantage...

  • Thanks, VM, I am trying to enjoy it! I know as soon as I get a job, I'll be wishing I had more free time.

  • My first thought was how sad that she doesn't want a big fat reunion, and she might one day regret not being there, and not having all the celebration photos.

Then I remembered when I left school (it took a while because it was so long ago). I had a job starting the Monday after school finished. When I realised that I wouldn't have any time off between school and work, I left school two weeks early and relaxed at home. I have no idea what I missed - tears in the classrooms and cheesy speeches in the school hall? No idea. Never found out and never looked back.

Follow your heart - and good luck.

  • Thanks Lesley :)

I found high school graduation more of a celebration/time to remember than I'm feeling now for university graduation. Because I had tons of friends in high school, participated in extracurrical activities.. it was more of a life experience, whereas university was just school, not fun.

  • Well done! It's great to finally finish isn't it?

I did the whole Graduation Day thing because I knew that my parents were so proud and would want to see me in cap n' gown! If your folks don't mind then you probably do the right thing, it was rather a nonevent of a day.

Good luck for your next steps!
