A New Furry Friend!
He is not quite here yet, but he is coming this week! His name is
Rocky, he's about 3 and he's a very special cat. (Warning - sad story,
but happy ending.) Rocky's mom was a farm cat, and when he was about 6
weeks old, she decided to move her brood from the barn to the house
across the road. Sadly, she was struck by a car...and killed. The
driver stopped and came up to the house with a tiny kitten in his
hands. Mama cat was carrying Rocky when she was struck. Rocky barely
made it, and quite likely suffered some head trauma because the
whiskers on one side of his face were gone. (They grew back.) He is a
little 'slow', my friend says, and has a bit of trouble with depth
perception but otherwise sees just fine. The rest of his litter was
adopted quickly after they lost their mama...but no one wanted Rocky.
My friend didn't have the heart to put him outside or get rid of him,
so she's kept him for the last three years, trying to find the right
place for him. I took one look at his picture...and fell in love!
Depending how is he positioned, the markings on his side form either a
heart or a butterfly.
Yesterday, my daughter and I spent several hours online, trying to find a kitten for Bubba - and there were no kittens to be had in a 45 mile radius! Now I know why - THIS is the cat that needs me. He seems like he will be a wonderful companion for Bubba. I am very excited, but Bubba on the other hand...is sleeping.

He looks like one of Mom's cats. I hope everyone gets along well.

Oh it's always nice to have a friend! I hope Bubba and Rocky hit it off.
The Rocky markings also remind me of a shadow rabbit...head and ears!

I'm sure Bubba will be very pleased to have another friend around, and always far better to take in a homeless cat as they are far less likely to find homes than kittens, my last two have been plus a few more short term visitors.

He'll be a wonderful companion for you too. I'm not surprised you're excited. Things do seem to happen at about the right time and I have yet to work out how.
