JTJ's Straight Talk

Telling it Like it is..

Name:JuniorTheJaws

Oh The Shame of It!...

Gosh! It is so hard to believe that I am going to be 40 years old soon! Yuck!

I do so wish there was some way to turn back the clock, but I know there is not...what a shame!

I was treated to two Alan Jackson tickets from my sister as an early birthday present (Alan Jackson was in Philadelphia in October). I have seen him four times already, and he is just as great as the first time!

My mother is getting me an all-day body spa certificate from Topper's Body Salon and Spa....Yippee! cannot wait for that!. :)

I didn't have a difficult time turning 30, but for some reason soon to be turning 40 is hitting me a bit harder.

Ah, well...Life goes on! :)

  • Cheer up.I can barely remember when I was 40.You aren't getting older,you are getting better.Besides,think of the alternative,if you weren't aging,you wouldn't be alive.Oh,and happy birthday.
    I love Alan Jackson,too.

  • Ah, JTJ. I reckon I can't speak for anybody else ... but, for me, it was the THINKING about turning forty that was pretty crappy. The DOING it, though? In retrospect, it was kinda nice. Seemed like all the eggs had fallen into the right basket, after four decades. Or something like that? You'll lkely never catch me saying that ol' cliched "life begins at forty' ... but I can say this: life seems to become more manageable and never-say-die at forty. 39 years of worthy practice counts for a lot indeed :)!
    Have a terrific birthday!

  • Lol! Thanks Gats, as usual a man of wisdom.

You are correct though...it is the THINKING part of that scares the heck out me! :/

  • My mother is a huge Alan Jackson fan. She goes every time he's anywhere between Cheyenne and Denver. Have a happy birthday and remember, you don't have to grow up :)

  • 40. The age I joined Funtrivia. I've found it seems when most people actually seem to grow up. And best of all, it's not 50! That does frighten me...

  • Just you wait, you two cowards - the numbers keep getting bigger. So what? Joybaby's right. We don't want them not to. May they grow and grow.

David, you're in your prime, and Agnes, you're a spring chicken!

  • Spring chicken, me?! I sure do not feel like it. I feel like the spring is gone...long gone. Boo-hoo...wwwaaaah! :)

  • Twenty-fours years of hard living - I hope! :) How are you planning to celebrate?

  • Happy birthday Agnes - same day as my Mum, but a few years' difference.

For some reason 40 didn't bother me, but 44 did, probably because I couldn't say "early forties" any more. That lasted about 5 minutes and I got over it.

  • Happy birthday Agnes! Hope you don't feel any different today, and are having a fun day.
    HBTY, HBTY, HBDA, HBTY! :D

  • Happy Birthday! Hopefully you didn't get annoying birthday cards (like I do every year from my younger cousins).

    By Pagiedamon, Nov 17 08 1:35 PM

  • OK, it's Tuesday. The day you feared for so long has come and gone. With a bang? No, I bet a damp squib. And I bet you don't feel any different - do you?

    By lesley153, Nov 18 08 8:39 AM

  • Lol! Nope don't feel any differently, but sure feel like I could sleep for a year! Too much work, work and more work. Guess I should be lucky that I still have a job for my 40th with the way the economy has been going lately.

Thanks everyone for all of your laughs and warm birthday wishes...You are all simply the best! :)
