Little Snits...Grrr!
This is not a normal rant, but a rant nonetheless.
I despise people that are ignorant of the fact that the United States of America is not the only country around; that other countries have been around for much longer and the original 13 colonies in, what is now, the United States of America changed our spelling, currency etc., all to be different over the course of time.
I have been to England several times, and find myself using both American spellings and UK/International spellings. I have been told by certain individuals, that I need to learn how to spell.
Methinks those that tell me I need to learn how to spell need to about other countries than just their own.
There, rant over...for now. :)

I worked very hard once on a short story in a journalism course. The wonderful little piece of work failed because I thought it would be cute to spell curb, kerb like the british. No forgiveness just a big fat F. The prof was and is an idiot.

Perhaps those who tell you that you need to learn to spell need to open their minds to other possibilities.
Frankly, I rather like coloUr, behavioUr and other U words.
I once worked for a Brit while also working for someone from Australia. I never had so much fun learning how our words are much the same yet also different.
Silly people will always find a way to make a comment. How empty their brains must be to miss out on learning another way of thinking.

What's a "normal" rant, Agnes? All rants are good!
I have sometimes got the impression that some Americans divide the world into two parts - the U S of A and the Axis of Evil. Hope it's not too many of them! And we find on here that if a quiz is about TV, that means it's American TV; and that spelling is either American or wrong. Can we do anything about that, do you suppose?

Wait! There are other countries besides the US? Why didn't anyone tell me before?! LOL!
