It's HOT, Damn HOT!
Here in Sydney today, 12.10 pm on Thursday January 15, 2009 it is 40 degrees Celsius.
It is so hot, the grass is wilting. Due to water restrictions, it can only be watered twice a week - not that it is advisable to water it in the middle of the day.
I start work in 1 hour and 20 minutes and I have a 30 minute drive ahead of me... For some reason, I am very reluctant to leave the confines of my 22 degree air-conditioned home...funny that!
Thunderstorms are predicted for tonight, but there is no sign of that right now....
The only saving grace is that the heat is dry...normally Sydney is plagued by very high humidity in Summer....not today, though...but should the clouds roll in, that will change in a flash.
I know you in the Northern Hemisphere may envy the warmth at the moment - trust me, we are envying your coolness. Guess we can never win.
Come on Autumn, I say.......

Lol! Yes, it is cold here but some of us don't mind it. I would rather freeze than sweat to death. I feel for you. Autumn will be there sooner than you think.

I agree kitkat. I have always said..you can always put on warm clothing but when it is hot, all you can do is stay inside with the AC going full blast.

Hey, vogon, it is beginning to look like Christmas....
In some areas of America, it is 40 below zero. Human skin can freeze in 10 minutes. In New York, even the people who ski are staying inside.
Here in colorful Colorado this week, we had major snow on Monday, a melt on Tuesday, the snow was almost gone on Wednesday. Today was supposed to be snow but it is quite sunny. Give it 10 minutes and it may change. Such excitement.
Jingle bells, jingle bells....

Good to see you back Vogon. When it's summer here it's still nothing like you have for more than a few days a year. The last time it lasted longer I had the chicken pox. Go figure...

I actually prefer winter to summer, which is a good thing here. I can't take that kind of heat, however the cold the last 2-3 days here has been a bit much also. My thermometer registered it at -34C. But it is supposed to warm up a bit.
Cheers
