I've beaten the system (this week anyway)
I did actually spend many years from teenage trying to become a comedian, with the divide coming when I started my degree and had to choose between professional comedy or a degree, and the degree won. The need for a union card meant many hours of cabaret a year which I simply didn't have the time to do (unlike my dentist friend who graduated in both together and made a million, not an exaggeration). Thank goodness for blogs is all I can say. Comedy, tragedy, irony and tedium. Just like real life but with as many boring bits removed as required to retain realism.
Last Monday I checked my old sign pool and saw a new arrival in Blackheath, the New Zealand to my England London wise, plus a charge to drive there on weekdays. I was extremely reluctant to bother I can tell you, with so many already, but as today was a free Sunday I got in the new car, which does drive so much smoother than the last, and worked out a route avoiding all the jams which actually worked. Besides the absence of any signs on a one way system coming home sending me a mile south for a bit it all went smoothly and just got a set of photos before it went dark, as I watched the Grand Prix first. Another feather in the cap of history.
My friends in Florida are now about over New York on their way to London this morning. The worm in the apple (actually the relative size would put them in the alternative proportions) is they are only here to get yet another visa, although this is the end of their intended 7 year stay. Seeing them every 4 years after most days for on and off 30 years is not exactly the same and can't understand how with all the aggro they have had there why they still want to spend the rest of their lives in what is after all a foreign country? I expect I'll learn the details soon but won't change a darn thing. Otherwise work's picked up again, and all old faithfuls returning. I do prefer that to new ones just in case they either stretch me a bit too far or worse still come once and vanish. Each gets a new file opened and the one page ones are a bit of a waste. And all I can add is they don't all think I'm useless as some still send other people to me after that, maybe I actually fix some in one go (it has happened, believe me).
I am also phoning Christine when I get a chance, as in my business we try and get closure whatever the result. If there's a loose end and we have the scissors then we go for it. People rarely turn and from one of the sweetest women I've known (consistently for 30 years) how could she end up like most of the others? So I am calling her. The other projects continue, I am well stuck in to the hypnosis course now and can easily get 100 hours out of it if I add the written assignments. I doubt I will as I haven't that much time, unless I spread it out for a long time. Reading it is the main thing and most covers old ground so just adding the new when I see it.
Once my friends are gone then the house clearing will finish, the books and items for charity will go and another 6 month job will be completed. At least my mum appreciated all the work I did, she moans I don't work in the mornings but the fact I usually go with minute's notice and happily spend days on end filling in forms shouldn't matter when in the day I do it. Do you want someone reliable or someone who gets up early? The two are not connected but she lives in the 1940s I think. Assuming people thought that then which I wouldn't know. The IQ test has now been requested, and waiting for a reply. I know enough psychologists from work so if #1 isn't interested one will be, they are getting paid for it. So it's been a productive week for a change, there can usually be more but if you can afford to play the fruit machine long enough it has to pay the jackpot eventually.
