Weirdest News Story
I just read this in my local paper. It has to qualify as the weirdest news story I have come across.
A St. Peters woman answered her door early Wednesday morning and was hit over the head with a dead dog.
Lisa L. Hopfer, 33, of Wentzville, allegedly forced her way into the St. Peters woman's home and attacked the victim with a dead Chihuahua puppy.
Police reported Hopfer bought the puppy from the victim after the victim's Chihuahua had unexpectedly become pregnant by a neighbor's dog. The puppies were not full breed Chihuahuas.
The alleged victim met Hopfer through friends and sold one of the puppies to her, police reported.
"The assault is a simple assault, but the fact that she forced her way into the home makes the burglary a felony crime," said Dave Kuppler, spokesman for the St. Peters police department. "We didn't issue a summons to her, but we have arrested her. She will be held accountable for her actions."
Kuppler said Thursday charges were still pending.
The alleged victim, also 33, said Hopfer appeared on her front porch around 5:30 Wednesday morning and continually rang the doorbell. The victim opened the door and said Hopfer pushed her way in and hit her over the head with the dead Chihuahua.
The victim, who asked not to be identified by name, told the Journals the Chihuahua was in a bag, but Hopfer removed it and continued to hit her with the dead dog.
"She said I'm coming for my puppy," the victim recalled Thursday.
The alleged victim was unsure how the puppy died, but noted that its littermates were healthy and alive.
The victim also alleged that Hopfer threatened her and her family and continued to attack her.
Once in the house, the victim said she fought with Hopfer and eventually got Hopfer back to the front porch.
"We were tussling," the victim said. "I was screaming, 'I'm going to call the police.'"
She could not recall exactly how she got Hopfer back outside, but once the two women were on the porch the victim said to keep her children safe she locked the door behind her.
The victim said Hopfer continued to hit her with the dead dog while the two were on the front porch.
"I was in shock," the victim said. "I just sat down and took it."
The victim's mother who lives next door came out and saw Hopfer hitting her daughter in the head with the dog.
"Every bone has to be broken in that dog's body," the victim's mother said.
As the victim's mother approached, she alleged Hopfer turned to her.
"I was stunned," the victim's mother said. "This woman was screaming. She hit me in the face with it."
The victim's mother alleged Hopfer attempted to hit her again but she said she blocked the assault with her arm.
A neighbor from across the street looked out and asked if the victim needed help. The victim told her to call the police.
Hopfer drove away waving the dead Chihuahua out her sunroof before police arrived.

For the first time (today, anyway) I am at a loss for words! The whole crime itself is bizarre enough but, almost worse, to show such disrespect for a corpse like that indicates a mind in "double troubled" mode. Amazing story.

Crazy lady

I read that artical earlier...totally insane. Accourding to my artical the puppy had died because it was supposivly taken away from the mother to soon and died. Now that was according to the vet. The women that was beaten had been the dog breeder that the "crazy lady" had gone to for the puppy. All in all, a highly disturbing story.

That lady's definitely got a couple of screws loose. I wonder if her neighbors are going to say "She's always been such a nice, quiet person. I can't believe she would do a thing like that." It's too bad more and more people are going off the deep end.
