Interesting Questions, Facts, and Information

    Thorpe Park

You park, queue, pay and similar things. As you walk into the entrance clutching your leaflet, you look at the map on the back and you see a ride that you would love to go on. What might that be?A Day At Thorpe Park

Detonator. Detonator is a ride where you are simply raised upwards 100 feet and dropped at 75 kilometres per hour, in the open air. You get a great view of the park. Vampire is at Chessington World of Adventures, and Oblivion and Corkscrew are at Alton Towers.

There is a roller coaster you've heard about. You know it has ten loops, but what is the name of this ride?A Day At Thorpe Park

Colossus. Colossus is the world's first ten looping rollercoaster. You can take a virtual ride on it at www.thorpepark.co.uk .

The first ride you go on is Depth Charge, which is right near the entrance. Which area is this in?A Day At Thorpe Park

Neptune's Kingdom. On this ride, you hurtle down a 40 feet water chute in an inflatable dinghy to a big splash at the end. Neptune's Kingdom also include rides such as Sea Snakes and Ladders and Neptune's Beach - although that isn't really a ride.

Moving on, you walk into the "Octopus' Garden". What kind of people are these rides aimed at in particular?A Day At Thorpe Park

Young Children. The height restriction on these rides are 1.2m. So unless you are particularly short, or accompanying a small child, I'm afraid Ollie Octopus, Swinging Seashells and Happy Halibuts are out of bounds.

Your next stop is "Lost City". Which ride will you NOT find here?A Day At Thorpe Park

Detonator. Detonator is in Calypso Quay - you'll be going there later!

"Canada Creek" next, themed around - well, Canada. Loggers Leap, Calgary Stampede - a good place for rides, this one, but which eating place will you NOT find here?A Day At Thorpe Park

Calgary Snacks. Chicken To Go serves chicken, surprisingly. Burger King is self-explantory, and Logger's Deli has sandwiches, salads, coffee and similar things. Calgary Snacks I just made up.

During your visit to "Canada Creek", you enjoy Logger's Leap. Can you get an on-ride photo of individual people on the boat, like Tidal Wave? A Day At Thorpe Park

Yes. For many years only the full boat picture could be purchased. However, this was changed at the beginning of 2004 so you can purchase a photo of the top or bottom half of the boat, similar to the Tidal Wave pictures.

You hop on the Canada Creek Railway to get to your next stop - which is what?A Day At Thorpe Park

Thorpe Farm. Thorpe Farm is reachable by the train or the waterbus.

Thorpe Farm, where you can pet various animals and enjoy looking at them eating, sleeping and so on. You decide to eat here. What is the restaurant called?A Day At Thorpe Park

Pot Bellies. A nice family eating place, serving a good hearty lunch or snacks, drinks and ice-creams. The best place to eat at Thorpe Park, in my opinion.

You take the waterbus to "Calypso Quay". When you step off the bus, where are you right near?A Day At Thorpe Park

Model World. Walk through Model World to get to the waterbus stop, or walk through it when you get off. Whichever, it's worth a visit. It has sacled-down models of things like the CN Tower, Nelson's Column, the Pyramid Of Cheops and many others.

"Ribena Rumba Rapids" replaced another river rapid ride. What was that ride called?A Day At Thorpe Park

Thunder River. I think that both Chessington World Of Adventures and Thorpe Park are being sponsored by Ribena. Chessington has a ride calle "Berry Bouncers" which is also a Ribena ride.

The last ride you go on is Tidal Wave. "(Cal)Amity Cove" is a pretty good area, even though it has just one ride. It's all decorated to look like a fishing village hit by a tidal wave. Hold on tight, you're gonna get wet! As you hurtle down the drop, you find yourself wondering - how far am I falling?A Day At Thorpe Park

85 feet. The highest drop on a water ride in Europe!

Happy, tired, and rather wet, you drive away looking back on your day. It was well worth the money! Imagining you purchased a "Thrill Pass" (12 years+), how much did that in fact set you back?A Day At Thorpe Park

£25.00. A "Young Thrill Pass", under 12 years, costs £21.00. Hope you enjoyed your day, visit again soon!

How many loops does "Colossus" have?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

      10. Colossus's advertising campaign was based around the fact that it had ten loops and would make you dizzy. Strange way of making it appealing (but it must work as I did go on it).

What level is "Quantum" on the thrillometer?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

Intense, not for the faint-hearted. Quantum wrenches you around as you sit on a flat platform, and looks very tame as you watch it when you are queueing.

What is the maximum speed on Nemesis Inferno?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

77kph. Nemesis Inferno was new for 2003, and was insprired by the Alton Towers' ride, Nemesis.

How much extra must you pay to book an "Early Rider" ticket?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

£2. Early rider tickets get you into the park half an hour early and allow you to ride Colossus and Nemesis Inferno before everyone else. They can only be booked online.

Aprroximately how far is Thorpe Park from London?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

20 miles. It is located in Chertsey, which is easy to reach from the M25.

A tricky one - if you are going in a group of more than 27 people and you are a Group Discoverer (12 years and over) how much is your ticket on a peak day?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

£16.00. If you were a Discoverer in a group of 12-26 guests your ticket would be £17.50. If your group contains fewer than 12 guests I'm afraid the full rate must be paid.

What is the name of the Halloween Event for 2003?Thorpe Park: The Slightly More Boring Quiz

Fright Nites . Two horror mazes are placed in the park for this event and a set of clips from horror films is played for visitors to watch. This event is to be repeated for Halloween 2004.
