Minas Gerais. "Ouro Preto" is located in Minas Gerais, and it literally means "Black Gold" and the city is called that, because it is the town that has produced the most gold of all Brazilian areas. The gold found there was a darker shade of gold, which was rarer at the time of mining so it was more valuable. The town today, though very touristic, still has no airport or large hotel chains. Parana. The Itaipu dam is located in Parana. (My home state) Paraguay and Brazil share the electricity that is produced in this dam. Since Paraguay can't use nearly all that electricity, it sells about 46 of its 50 percent of electricity back to Brazil, and gets a hefty check from that. I have visited the dam, and it is quite astonishing. It has 17 turbines to make electricity, and for the majority of the time, all of the turbines are used.
