Blood Brothers
The town hall. When the whole cast join together and sing the final song "Tell me it's not True" there isn't a dry eye in the house, and a standing ovation always follows!

Play with magnesium. Sammy is the twins' elder brother, a villain who involves Mickey in a robbery and shooting which lands Mickey in jail. When he can't cope on his release, his wife Linda turns to a now successful Eddie for help.
Linda. Linda marries Mickey, but eventually has a "Light Romance" with Eddie. "There's a girl inside the woman who's waiting to get free, she's washed a million dishes, she's always making tea".
A locket. The locket is a secret between Mrs Johnstone and Eddie. She gives it to Eddie so that he always has something to remember her and Mickey by. Eddie's mother, Mrs Lyons goes berserk when she finds out, and confronts Mrs Johnstone.
July 18th. When they discover they were born on the same day, Mickey asks Eddie if he would like to become his blood brother. They seal the pact by each cutting the palm of their hand and clasping them together. An image seen on all the theatre advertising posters.
The Narrator. This song, all about superstition, comes back to haunt Mrs Johnstone... "you sold a son, and you can't tell anyone".
My Child. Mrs Lyons promises Mrs Johnstone to look after her child: "I'd keep him warm in the winter and cool when it shines, I'd pull out his splinters without making him cry".
like forty two. Poor Mrs Johnstone, she would look like 42 with "seven hungry mouths to feed, and one more nearly due".
Eddie. Mrs Johnstone cannot afford to keep both babies, so she is persuaded to give one of them away to her employer who cannot have children... with disastrous results.
65 Skelmersdale Lane. They get relocated from their old house in Liverpool.
Old and slow. Mrs Johnstone tells us this at the start of the second act.

In his dreams and in magazines. This is sung during the song "That Guy."
Chronically depressed. The doctor wrote him a prescription to take some tablets for this condition.
Counting from one to ten. This was inspired by a childhood game.
Shooting someone. The shooting happens during the robbery.
Linda. Mickey marrys Linda after Christmas. You can hear the church bells in the OLC.
Teddy. She meets him at the club and they go dancing.
Bread and eggs. Quote: He brings me bread and eggs, says "I've got legs like Marilyn Monroe."

Linda Nolan. Linda Nolan suffered from breast cancer. Thankfully she was cured, and returned to playing the role of Mrs J in the UK tour.
Phoenix Theatre. "Blood Brothers" started at the Phoenix Theatre in 1991. Before that it had played at the Lyric, the Albery, and the Liverpool Playhouse.
Anthony Costa. Anthony Costa was Mickey in 2006 and left in February of 2007.
Bernie. Bernie, Denise, Linda and Maureen have all been in the show at one time or another, and this entered the Guinness Book of Records.
superstition. "And do we blame superstition for what came to pass? Or could it be what we, the English, have come to know as class?"
Light Romance. "They just said hello, and foolishly they gazed. They should've gone their separate ways" - Light Romance. Sung by Mrs J. Same tune as 'Easy Terms'.
Sarah. "Listen did you get our Sarah from school?" "yeh she's in bed..."
Mrs Wong. "...and your friends are there to talk away the night. Or until Mrs Wong switches off the chippy light".
Status Quo. "I know our Sammy burnt the school down, well it's very easily done..." Sammy appears with his back to the audience, with Status Quo on the back of his jacket.
