Bob Rueland. David Duchovny's character, Bob Rueland, was the main character of the movie. A large portion of the movie was spent following Bob throughout his life. In addition to being in this movie, David Duchovny has also starred in "Zoolander", the "X Files", and the "Red Shoe Diaries".
Grace Briggs. Minnie Driver's character, Grace Briggs, was one of the main characters in the movie. She began the movie in need of a heart transplant. In an interesting turn of events, she received a heart from the wife of the man with whom she eventually fell in love. In addition to this movie, Minnie Driver is known for her work in "Good Will Hunting", "Circle of Friends", and "The Phantom of the Opera". Before her acting career, she was a member of a band called "Puff, Rocks and Brown".

Irish and Italian. A big part of the movie was spent at this restaurant. It was owned and operated by Grace Briggs' grandpa and his close friend. The funny part about O'Reilly's restaurant was that Irish and Italian food were served together. A side of cabbage could likely be found along with a spaghetti dinner.

gorillas. As a worker at the zoo, Elizabeth Rueland committed her entire career to seeing that the gorillas were taken care of. After she died in a car accident, her husband, Bob, made sure that the gorilla habitat was built the way she would have wanted it to be built.

bowling. Bob, and all of Grace's family and friends, joined a bowling team that his construction company sponsored. Also, Bob's friend Charlie first met Grace at the bowling alley.
construction. Bob Rueland's company name was Rueland Construction. One of the main jobs his company had was to build the new gorilla habitat at the zoo.
an ex-priest. Joe was Grace's best friend's husband. For some reason, Joe had taken on the responsibility of finding someone for Grace. Unbeknownst to her, Joe invited an ex-priest over to his house to meet Grace. She was ashamed to even meet the ex-priest though, because she was embarrassed to be set up with someone.
bicycle. Grace always rode everywhere on an old bicycle. Bob went to a restoration bike shop and bought her a brand new bicycle that looked just like her older model.
Italy. It had always been her dream to travel to Italy, and her grandpa ended up buying her a plane ticket to go there. Grace was not the only person who had dreamt of going to Italy. Bob Rueland's deceased wife Elizabeth also had the dream of traveling there, and in a way, her heart still made it to Italy.
