Answer: It was career win number 100 for him

The game was played on June 1 and the Angels defeated the Orioles 1-0 behind Nolan's nine strikeouts. Ryan hit only two home runs in his career of 27 seasons in 1980 and 1987 with the Houston Astros. Of the record seven no-hitters that Ryan threw, the last out in each game was made by notable players; Amos Otis, Norm Cash, Eric Soderholm, Bobby Grich, Dusty Baker, Willie Randolph, and Roberto Alomar. Ryan retired with a 324-292 career record in 1993.
2. Which of these Major League Baseball commissioners served the shortest term in the 20th Century?

Landis brought baseball back to a credible game after the 1919 World Series debacle in which White Sox players were accused of fixing the World Series. Judge Landis stayed on baseball's bench from November 1921 to November 1944. Chandler replaced Landis and was commissioner from 1945-1951. Ueberroth served four years. Giamatti came in on April 1, 1989 and died on September 1, 1989. With Giamatti still being fresh in his term, some say that the stress brought on by gambling allegations of Pete Rose brought on his untimely death. Giamatti banned Rose for life due to those allegations on August 23, 1989. A. Bartlett Giamatti died as a result of a heart attack just nine days later.

Mays started his career off with the 14, then changed his number to 24. Regardless of the number, he would still win the Rookie of the Year Award over Chet Nichols of the Braves and Clem Labine of the Dodgers. Mays missed most of the 1952 season and all the 1953 season due to military service.

He came back and won the NL MVP Award in 1954. Willie would win another NL MVP in 1965. In early May of the 1972 season, the Giants traded Mays to the New York Mets for pitcher Charlie Williams. Willie retired after the 1973 season and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1979.

The Dodgers and Giants came to an agreement to trade Robinson to the Giants for pitcher Dick Littlefield and cash. This all came about on December 13, 1956. Littlefield was a left-handed pitcher who went 4-4 for the Giants in 1956. When Robinson refused to be traded, the transaction was nullified by both teams and Major League Baseball, then Robinson retired. Robinson was 37 years old when he retired after only 10 seasons with the Dodgers.

It was Young's first and only Triple Crown of his career, and the first for the American League in 1901. He went 33-10 with his ERA of 1.62 in the season. Young then went on to help Boston win the first-ever World Series in 1903 against the Pirates, five games to three.

After making three appearances in the 1960s, the Cardinals could not win their NL East Division during the decade and finished in second place three times. In that World Series they defeated the Brewers four games to three.

After playing for eight seasons and hanging up his cleats in 1962, he took the reins of the White Sox from 1970-1975. In 1976 he replaced the fired Alvin Dark of the Athletics, and took Oakland to a second place finish with 87 wins. He came to Pittsburgh the following season and stayed there until 1985 when the Atlanta Braves wanted him at their helm.

He managed the Braves from 1986-1988. Chuck died in 2011 at the age of 82.
10. In which World Series game was the first-ever to end in a tie game?

Answer: 1912

It was the 1907 World Series which pitted the Chicago Cubss against the Detroit Tigers in a best-of-seven game series. It was game one at West Side Grounds on October 8 that ended up in a 3-3 tie. The game went 12 innings but only lasted 2 hours and 40 minutes.

The game was called due to darkness, and instead of continuing the game prior to game two the next day, Major League Baseball declared it a tie. Chicago would go on to sweep the series in the next four games. Answer choices: 1907, 1927, 1947, 1967.
