Hogan's Heroes
Let's start with the easiest question: Who is the leader of the prisoners? | 'Hogan's Heroes'
|
Col. Hogan. Played by Bob Crane.
Col. Klink. Played by Werner Klemperer.
Sgt. Schultz. Played by John Banner.
Robert. Colonel Robert Hogan
Wilhelm. Colonel Wilhelm Klink.
LeBeau. Everyone loved LeBeau's cooking, especially Schultz.
Helga . Helga, played by Cynthia Lynn, was Klink's secretary in the first season, but was replaced by Hilda, played by Sigrid Valdis, in the second season.
Gen. Burkhalter. Klink was always trying to get on Gen. Burkhalter's good side. Unfortunately, it never worked.
There has never been a successful escape from Stalag 13. Klink bragged about having no escapes to practically everyone. If he only knew the truth.
Cockroach. Because he is so small.
'I know nothing!'. Schultz always said 'I know nothing' in order to stay out of trouble.
Schultzie. The prisoners called him 'Schultzie.'
Who is the bumbling British officer who often messes up Hogan's plans? | 'Hogan's Heroes'
|

cigars. Hogan always took one or two whenever he was in Klink's office.

There were some character changes after the pilot was made. Which enlisted character, who was also the tailor, was no longer part of the show? | "Hogan's Heroes": The Pilot
|
Vladimir Minsk. He was played by Leonid Kinskey who was born in St Petersburg, Russia. Although no explanation was given for his departure, it has been reported that Kinskey felt the subject matter especially that of bungling Nazis, was taken too lightly. In later episodes, tailoring duties fell on Corporal Peter Newkirk and Corporal Louis LeBeau.
1942. According to the very beginning, it was 1942. The Germans were winning WWII at that point. How much influence in the turning of the German war machine's tide would our "Heroes" have?
7. At least for this episode. I haven't noticed if they are in barracks seven in any of the other episodes or not. There have been a few episodes when the men have had to move to other barracks for one reason or another.
What was the method of letting the prisoners know it was time for roll call, that was never used in subsequent episodes? | "Hogan's Heroes": The Pilot
|
A bell. A very loud bell, almost like those in schools. It would be rung several times for about three seconds per blast. I don't remember this being used in any other episodes. After the pilot, Schultz would come barging in and yell, “Everybody out for rrooollll call!” I think they may have done this so that Schultz would interact with the men more and see and hear things he didn’t want to see or know about. “I know NOTHING!” If I am wrong please write to me and tell me the season and episode.
As the Germans are going around trying to find evidence of espionage by Hogan and his men, what happened to Colonel Burkhalter? | "Hogan's Heroes": The Pilot
|
He gets doused with water. The informer believed that there was a hidden entrance to a tunnel under the water tower and that the opening is lifted by pulling on the chain that opens and closes the valve. Unfortunately, Colonel Burkhalter is standing under the water pipe when he does this. This was a pretty standard bit of physical comedy. The recurring role of Burkhalter is played superbly by Leon Askin. Apparently his superiors in Berlin thought he was superb too. He gets promoted to General between episodes one and two.
They steal his helmet and pass it down to the other end of the line. They often held his gun for him while he would tie his boot or adjust his helmet but I don't remember them ever hiding his gun. He did hide his OWN gun once in a later episode. Klink always had an unkind remark for Schultz. Poor Schultz, he was somewhat of a pacifist and didn't really care about the war which is probably why he knew and saw "nothing, NO-THING!".
