    Vampire Diaries

Elena eventually killed Elijah in "The Dinner Party" at her parents' lake house but who killed Elijah at the actual dinner party at the Salvatore house? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Alaric Saltzman. Damon had intended to kill Elijah at the dinner party now that he knew how to do it. What he didn't know, though, was that he was going to die too if he stabbed Elijah with the knife. Alaric saved him before he could make the fatal plunge. Later on, Alaric took advantage of the opportunity and unexpectedly stabbed Elijah, killing him... for a while.

In "Crying Wolf", which one of the main characters left town? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Tyler Lockwood. Tyler realized that in order to break the werewolf curse, he needed to kill Elena. Lost and confused with nobody to turn to but Jules, Tyler left a note for his mom and visited Matt, encouraging Matt to give Caroline another chance. Tyler then silently visited Caroline before hitting the road with Jules, leaving Mystic Falls... for the time being.

In "Daddy Issues", who did Jules take as a hostage when she believed that Stefan was hurting Tyler? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Caroline. Stefan tried to make peace talks with Tyler but Tyler was too confused with everything that he did not know who to trust. He yelled for help the moment he managed to contact Jules. Jules decided to lure out the vampires by kidnapping one of their own, Caroline. Tyler hesitated to help Caroline for a moment but that was enough for Caroline to end a friendship. Jonas Martin, Elijah's witch, fulfilled Elijah's end of the deal with Elena by saving the gang from the werewolves.

Which recurring character died in "The Descent", from a fatal stab? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Rose. At the end of the previous episode, Rose was bitten by Jules. The bite did not instantly kill her but it spread around like a painful virus. Rose became so delusional that she attacked Elena, believing she was Katherine. In the end, Damon infiltrated Rose's dream, giving her a pleasant dream before finally stabbing her in the heart with a wooden stake.

What was the highlight of "By the Light of the Moon"?The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Tyler's first transformation into a werewolf. "By the Light of the Moon" marked Tyler's first transformation as a werewolf and he was so scared. Caroline supported him along the way and assured him that he would make it through. Aside from this, Elijah made a deal with Elena. If she stayed put and didn't get herself killed, Elijah would keep Elena's loved ones safe. Elena had Elijah pull Stefan out from the tomb but kept Katherine sealed inside.

Who did Stefan save from Katherine's fangs inside the tomb, which ended up with him getting stuck with Katherine in the tomb in "The Sacrifice"?The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Jeremy Gilbert. Jeremy, feeling more and more romantically attracted to Bonny, decided to take matters in his own hands in order to retrieve the moonstone from Katherine. His plan partially failed (he managed to get the moonstone out) and he ended up stuck in the tomb with Katherine. Katherine threatened to feast on Jeremy's blood if Bonny did not lift the spell. Bonny, channeling her new warlock friend Luka's powers, failed to lift the spell so Katherine attacked Jeremy. Without even thinking about it, Stefan ran into the tomb to save Jeremy and ended up getting stuck with Katherine inside the tomb.

We finally met Elijah in "Rose." Elijah was one of the original vampires. By the end of this episode, what did we find out about the "Originals"?The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

They do not die from a stake to the heart.. Damon stabbed Elijah in the heart with a wooden stake as the Salvatores saved Elena from her captors. By the end of the episode, we found out that a stake to the heart cannot kill an Original vampire. We didn't find out until the next episode that the Originals can also compel other vampires too.

In "Plan B", Katherine found out that Elena and Stefan were still together despite publicly breaking up a couple of episodes ago. What did she do to punish them? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

She compelled Jenna to stab herself.. Katherine revealed that Elena was not going to one-up her because she always had a back-up plan. After finding out from her spy, Jenna, that Stefan and Elena were still together and that Damon killed Mason, Katherine compelled Jenna to stab herself right in front of Elena and Alaric. Elena realized that she could not put the people she loved at stake, so she broke up with Stefan for real.

Who stumbled upon the secrets of the vampires at "Kill or Be Killed"?The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Sheriff Liz Forbes. Mason, seeking revenge for Damon stabbing him in the back in the previous episode, told Sheriff Forbes that the Salvatores were vampires. Liz was particularly shocked because Damon had become her friend. Still, with Mason's help, she brought the Salvatores to the Lockwood dungeons with the intention of killing them until Caroline charged in to save the day. Liz was devastated to find out that her daughter was a vampire and declared her daughter dead, causing heartbreak for Caroline.

What secret did Katherine disclose to Stefan in "Memory Lane"?The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

That she had been taking Vervain so she could be immune to it. Stefan wanted to know why Katherine was back in town, despite the fact that she kept saying it was because she wanted to reunite with Stefan. Stefan kept Katherine hostage in the basement torturing her with Vervain. In the end, Katherine revealed that she had been taking small doses of Vervain so her body could build up an immunity to it, and she was only acting like she was weak to get to spend time with her favorite Salvatore brother. Stefan later took Katherine's Vervain method as an inspiration to control his thirst for human blood. Without human blood, he was not as powerful as Katherine. Therefore, he decided to take small doses of human blood (later revealed to be Elena's) until he could control himself.

In "Brave New World", who killed the poor innocent man at the carnival? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Caroline Forbes. After Katherine killed Caroline in the previous episode, Caroline, who had Damon's blood on her system, became a vampire. This episode showed the painful transformation that Caroline had to go through alone. Caroline could not resist her thirst for blood and she was lured by the innocent teen's blood (he was compelled by Damon to fight with Mason, which ended badly for the compelled man) and she ended up killing him. Bonny, Caroline's witch friend, got so mad at Damon for "causing" the events to happen and almost killed him. She would have had it not been for Elena.

In "The Return", who did Damon Salvatore attempt to kill in a fit of rage? The Second Season of "Vampire Diaries"

Jeremy Gilbert. Damon was a mess throughout this episode with the unexpected return of his lover, Katherine Pierce. After mistakenly believing that Elena Gilbert kissed him, Damon demanded to know if Elena loved him. When Elena said that she would always love Stefan, much like what Katherine just said, Damon was so mad that when Jeremy came to check what was going on, Damon snapped Jeremy's neck. Fortunately, Jeremy was wearing his uncle's ring that kept him from dying from anything supernatural so he regained life. Katherine was thought to be dead for most of Season 1. Caroline died after Katherine suffocated her with a pillow. John was on the brink of death as Katherine cut off his arm and stabbed him on his own kitchen floor.

Did Damon and Elena share a kiss in front of Mystic Grill in the season finale, "Founder's Day"?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

No. Not only did the kiss happen on Elena's front porch, but he was not kissing Elena at all. He thought he was, but it was Katherine. Katherine stole Elena's clothing and appeared at the Gilbert home. She and Damon shared an intimate moment, and Jenna opened the door to witness it. She ordered 'Elena' inside the home, which gave Katherine the necessary invite into the house. Once inside, she attacked John Gilbert, cutting his fingers off of his hand. She wanted to remove the safety ring that he wore, which had belonged to Grayson, in order to kill him. His fate was left up in the air as the season ended. Jeremy drank Anna's blood from the vial she'd given him before being killed in the season finale, and prepared to overdose on prescription pain killers so he could turn into a vampire. Mayor Lockwood was killed after the vamps were rounded up and set to burn, and Tyler was in a car accident with Caroline and Matt. Several hints were given during the season that showed Tyler and Mayor Lockwood were werewolves. Stay tuned for season two.

Who turned out to be Elena's biological father?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

John Gilbert. It was Damon who figured it out first. He told Stefan, and Stefan told Elena. But, it wasn't until Elena confronted John with the information as fact that he confirmed their suspicions. John had been crazy for Isobel when she was in her mid teens. He was the one who took her to his brother, Dr. Grayson Gilbert, when she was ready to deliver Elena. Mayor Lockwood had secrets of his own, Alaric was married to Isobel after college, and Logan was staked not longer after becoming a vampire.

Who found Vicki Donovan's body in episode 17, "Let the Right One In"?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Caroline Forbes. In this episode, Stefan was captured and tortured by Frederick. He was one of the entombed vamps that escaped with Pearl. Mystic Falls was besieged by a big rain storm that day and Frederick and pals were able to walk outside. They captured poor Stefan out in the woods. Meanwhile, Caroline was driving out in the storm and got her car stuck. She tried calling for help, but could get no signal. Damon was forced to get the help of Alaric and Elena to save Stefan, but first he had to kill the woman who owned the house in order to go inside. Stefan and Elena escaped the house, but Frederick followed. Elena was forced to feed Stefan her own blood to save him, and Stefan killed Frederick. Caroline lost her footing out in the stormy night and slid down an embankment. It was on the side of that slope she discovered Vicki's body.

Elena Gilbert turned out to be adopted. Who was her birth mother?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Isobel Flemming. Isobel was the late wife of Alaric Saltzman. Alaric had come to town to take the job as History teacher, but he also wanted to find his wife's killer. Isobel had been killed and turned into a vampire by Damon Salvatore at her own request. She had sought Damon out to be turned, but before doing so had given her husband a ring to wear as protection. It turned out he needed it, as Damon killed Alaric in self-defense. Alaric awoke moments later, and realized that the ring had saved him. Before killing Alaric, Damon surmised to Stefan that Isobel must have sought him out on Katherine's suggestion. Once again, Damon was grasping to any hope Katherine still loved him. This all happened in episode 15, "A Few Good Men". In the episode, Matt's mother came home. Kelly Donovan was played by "The O.C." alum Melinda Clarke and Isobel was played "The L Word" alum Mia Kirshner.

What was the name of the herb that prevented a vampire from using the hypnotic compulsion power on a human?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Vervain. Vervain is a real plant. In the series, if a person wore it on their person, or ingested it, a vampire could not compel them to do what they wanted. Zach Salvatore kept a crop growing, though Damon had destroyed its natural growth throughout Mystic Falls. Damon killed Zach very early into the season, but the entire town hierarchy knew about the vamps from the past and suspected more had come to town. They even had some sort of compass that pointed toward a vampire.

The name of the quiet U.S. town for the series' setting is what?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Mystic Falls. Since 1864, the townsfolk had kept a series of journals. The journals contained clues to aid Damon in his quest of opening the tomb. Another vampire, named Anna, was also looking for an item known as a Grimoire. That was a witch's spell book. The location of the Grimoire was written down in the journal of Jonathan Gilbert. And, in turn, the Grimoire was finally located in the coffin of Stefan and Damon's father. Anna wanted to get her mother, also a vampire, out of the tomb. After the tomb was opened by Sheila and Bonnie Bennett, ancestors of the witch Emily Bennett, Damon discovered that Katherine was not inside. Anna's mother Pearl was inside, and revealed to Damon how Katherine was able to escape. Anna told Damon that she'd last seen Katherine near Chicago in 1983. He was crushed by the realization that Katherine had never cared about him at all. Bonnie's Grams, Sheila Bennett, was played by Jasmine Guy. Pearl was played by Kelly Hu. Grams died after the opening of the tomb.

Who was the first person turned into a vampire on screen?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Vicki Donovan. Of these choices, only Vicki was turned into a vampire in season one. Vicki was the sister of Matt Donovan, Elena's life long pal and one time boyfriend. It was Damon who turned her, after feeding off her more than once. He remarked at her will to live, fed her his blood and snapped her neck. Stefan tried to help her, so she could continue on as a vampire, but in the end he had to stake her to save Jeremy Gilbert. Jeremy and Vicki had an ongoing relationship, despite her desire to win over Tyler Lockwood, son of the mayor. Jeremy and Elena are siblings, but not biologically.

How were Stefan and Damon Salvatore related?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

brothers. Stefan returned to town, as he did periodically, to visit his Uncle Zach. Damon followed Stefan to town with his own agenda. He wanted to free Katherine from her 145 year entombment. It turned out not to be necessary. Katherine had turned both Salvatore brothers back in 1864, and Stefan had been unintentionally responsible for the town discovering that she was a vampire. Damon never forgave Stefan for that accident, and then he found out that Katherine had lived well beyond that night and had never let Damon know. Stefan first met Elena the night her parents died in a car accident. Elena was in the car as well, and Stefan saved her life. Paul Wesley plays Stefan and Ian Somerhalder plays Damon.

What's the name of the vampire who looked just like Elena Gilbert?"The Vampire Diaries" - Season 1

Katherine. Katherine and Elena are portrayed by actress Nina Dobrev. Nina may be best known, prior to this role, as Mia on "Degrassi: The Next Generation". Katherine Pearce was believed to have been entombed with over 20 other vamps underneath a church in 1864. That turned out to be false.

In the season two penultimate episode, "The Sun Also Rises", the curse of the Sun and Moon was broken. Of the choices listed, which event did NOT take place?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Klaus was killed by Bonnie. Damon suffered his "nip" from Tyler in the previous episode, "The Last Day". Tyler turned into a wolf before Damon, Caroline and Matt could get far enough away from him. Tyler bit Damon, as Damon protected the others from him. Damon's condition slowly deteriorated as the finale progressed, much like Rose's slow death after Jules bit her. The sacrificial ritual began to end the curse, with Jules being Klaus' first victim. He tore her heart from her chest and allowed her blood to drip into Greta Martin's bubbling cauldron. His next murder was that of Jenna Sommers, Elena and Jeremy's aunt and caregiver. She was a full vampire at the point, as Klaus needed. Stefan tried to trade himself in Jenna's place, but Klaus would have none of it. He staked Stefan, in order to keep him immobile, and then staked Jenna to her death. In the meantime, Bonnie performed a spell with John Gilbert to ensure (hopefully) that Elena would wake up from her own death still human. Klaus drained Elena's blood as Stefan watched, and began to change into a wolf. Bonnie and Damon showed up to fight Klaus, with Damon snapping Greta's neck before she could react. In the end, Klaus offered Elijah a trade he could not refuse, the locations of their family's bodies, and Elijah disappeared into the night with his baby brother. Elena did awaken human, and John died immediately after that. After the funeral of Jenna and John, Damon revealed to Stefan that he was dying from Tyler's bite and asked Stefan to not tell Elena. He said she did not need one more grave to mourn over. . .

Of the choices below, which was NOT one that Elijah revealed to Elena in episode 19, "Klaus"?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Klaus was the father of Katerina's long lost baby. The origins of the Sun and Moon curse were have thought to been Aztec, based on some drawings. After Elena awakened Elijah and made a deal with him, he revealed to her that the entire curse and all drawings associated with it were a work of fiction created by Klaus himself. The curse that Klaus needed to end was the one that wouldn't allow him to fully embrace both sides of his demonic lineage. He wanted to be able to be both vampire and werewolf in tandem, and create a new species on his own. Their entire family had been vampires, the first of their kind, and impervious to the pitfalls of the diluted bloodlines that followed down from their various makings. But, Elijah's mother had conceived her baby Klaus during a liaison with a werewolf, mixing their bloodlines for the first time. While Elijah had loved his brother dearly, he knew that Klaus was too dangerous to all creatures to be allowed to live. When he'd found a way for the doppelganger to survive the reversal spell, Klaus dismissed it. He said Katerina was there to serve a purpose and her life was nothing more. This was when Elijah's opinion began to change. He swore to Elena that he could save her during the ritual (no need for her to turn into a vampire as Katerina had), and that Klaus would be the one who died. But, could Elijah really be trusted? Damon thought there was no way, which led to a violent showdown with Stefan. Elijah later revealed, in the season finale, that Klaus had murdered their entire family, and that he wanted revenge as much as he wanted to protect the world from Klaus.

How did Elena's mother, Isobel, die in "Know Thy Enemy"?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

she killed herself. Isobel (actress Mia Kirshner) returned to town and immediately revealed herself to Jenna. Though Jenna did not get the chance to find out the whole vampiric truth of things, she was crushed that everyone knew Isobel was alive the entire time she'd been dating Alaric. Jenna decided to leave town, and live at the college for awhile, which was probably her best bet for the time being. It turned out that Isobel had found the elusive and ancient Klaus. She'd been compelled by him to trick Katherine into being captured. Once she'd fulfilled that compulsion, and one of Klaus' witches had captured Katherine, the witch told Isobel that her mission was complete. She'd met her compulsion and was free. She'd taken Elena to the site of her headstone, which her parents had placed despite having no evidence of her death. She told her daughter that she believed a part of her was buried there, the human half that Elena had never had the chance to meet. Before she died, Isobel had the chance to tell both Alaric and Elena she was sorry and that she cared for both of them. At the end, she told Elena she knew she'd been a huge disappointment to her, and then removed her protective necklace. Isobel went up in flames, dying right on the site of her own grave. She was, at last, done.

Katherine had taken up residence in the Salvatore house after being freed from the tomb in episode fifteen. So, who was left alive by the end of episode 16, "The House Guest"?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

John Gilbert. John had pretty much bullied Alaric into returning the immortality ring given to him by Isobel. He kept taunting him by teasing Jenna into doubting her ability to trust Alaric. So, Alaric returned the ring and left himself vulnerable. Elijah had been staked, twice, in episode 15's "The Dinner Party". The first time he was staked was by Alaric. Damon planned to do it himself, but was warned at the last minute by Alaric. Stefan and Elena had discovered more Jonathan Gilbert journals that revealed the truth about the special stake and ash that could kill an Original. If a vampire used the stake on an Original like Elijah, that vampire would die as well. So, Alaric staked Elijah from behind. Naturally, he had to pull his hand back out, which allowed Elijah to heal, much like the time Damon "killed" him previously. The stake had to remain inside Elijah for him to remain dead. So, Elena tricked him into getting close enough to her, so she could stake him herself. Then, his body was taken to the Salvatore home. Elijah's death broke his compulsion over Katherine, so she was free to leave the tomb. She promised to help Jonathan and Isobel protect Elena, and agreement that happened off screen. When Luka and his father tried to magic the stake out of Elijah, Damon was forced to kill Luka. During Dr. Martin's quest for revenge he was killed, but not before returning Bonnie's powers to her (he'd taken them in the previous episode) and adding a little of his own in the bargain.

In "The Descent", was Damon able to save Rose after she was bitten by Jules?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

No. Rose suffered a bite from the werewolf Jules in episode 11, "By the Light of the Moon". Jules' intent was to kill Damon, which she confirmed to him in episode 12, "The Descent". Damon cared for Rose, much to his own dismay, and he also felt guilt because he knew the infection was meant to kill him. He tried to figure out a cure, but Jules was not forthcoming, if she even knew at all. Damon and Elena cared for Rose, while Stefan tried to locate Elena's mother Isobel. In the end, there was no saving Rose, who'd lived for 500 years. Damon was with her as she lay dying, and finally he staked her to end her suffering. Rose was played by Lauren Cohan and Jules by Michaela McManus. Fans may remember Lauren from her role as Bela on "Supernatural. And, Michaela has played memorable characters on "One Tree Hill" and "Law and Order SVU".

Who did we discover was Katherine's unintentional vampire maker/sire?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Rose. Katherine, then known by her birth name Katerina, had Rose's blood before she hanged herself. As a human, Katerina had a child out of wedlock, a shame to her family. No one in the vampire world knew of this offspring for a very long time, but it was most likely the source of Elena's connection to Katherine. Trevor had helped Katerina escape from the vampire Klaus, who wanted to use Katherine/Katerina to end the sun and moon curse. In the end, many centuries later, it cost him his vampiric life. Now, Klaus was after the next doppelganger, Elena. Elena would have to become a vampire, or die prematurely, to end his ability to break the curse by using her as a human sacrifice. She turned down Katherine's offer to become a vampire, but made a deal with Elijah to stop Klaus.

Who killed Mason Lockwood in the episode "Plan B"?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Damon. Damon spent a great deal of time torturing Mason for information. He finally revealed to Damon (and Jeremy) that he was with Katherine and it was she who wanted the elusive moonstone. Apparently, the moonstone was an instrument used to remove the vampire/werewolf curse of daylight/full moon. After Mason revealed this information, Damon ripped his heart from his chest. Jeremy did not care for this aspect, but Damon warned him that he better learn to deal with all areas of vampire life. The moonstone was hidden in a well. Bonnie was able to read it from Mason while he was still unconscious. Stefan went down into the well to retrieve it, but the water was filled with Vervain. Caroline and Elena saved him, and Elena brought up the stone from the well.

Who told Sheriff Liz Forbes that Damon and Stefan are vampires?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Mason Lockwood. In episode 5, "Kill or Be Killed", Stefan tried to undo some of the damage done by Damon trying to kill Mason. Mason wasn't buying the good guy routine, and Stefan hit the message home with a reminder that Mason wasn't as strong without a full moon. Mason knew he was in trouble, so he warned Liz that she had vampires right under her nose. She did not want to believe it was true, but when Damon choked on lemonade spiked with Vervain, she had to accept that fact. Mason tricked the men into following him into the woods outside of the new town park, and they were shot with wood bullets and taken into the old Lockwood cellar out in the forest. Caroline and Elena saved the men, and Liz found out that her daughter was a vampire too. Instead of killing Liz, Damon locked her in his cellar to wait out the Vervain in her system so he could then compel her to forget all she'd learned. At the end of this episode, we learned that Mason wanted the moonstone for Katherine, who'd been working this scam for a very long time. Eternity did not look good on an evil mastermind like Katherine.

Who killed Caroline with the intention of sending Stefan and Damon a message?"The Vampire Diaries"- Season 2

Katherine. Caroline had been badly injured in the car accident that happened at the end of season one. Matt and Tyler were not as badly injured, but Caroline's life was hanging in the balance. Damon offered to heal her with his blood, but he was met with several objections. It was when Bonnie agreed to it that Elena consented as well. Damon fed Caroline his blood and she healed. At the end of the season two premier, Katherine came along and smothered Caroline in the hospital. She told Caroline to give the Salvatores a message- "game on". Caroline, now a vampire, delivered the message and began to recall everything Damon had done to her before the accident.

"We can talk." Are those the last words (excluding the song playing) spoken?"The Vampire Diaries": Season 1 - Episode 1

No. When Stefan shows up later that night he asks Elena if she is okay. She invites him in and he replies: "yes".
