Flags of the USA
Minnesota. The Motto "Etoile du Nord" or north star refers to the fact that Minnesota was the northern most state of the union.
Hawaii. The flag is based on the kingdom of Hawaii in 1816. It contains both symbols of the US and the UK.
Washington. Flag adapted on the 7th June 1923. The green color reflects the states nickname: the evergeen state.
Washington D.C.. This flag was adapted on the 15th October 1938.
Texas. The Lone Star state. Its flag was retained when the republic of Texas joined the union in 1845.

Virgin Islands. The white is the symbol of purity. The emblem is a simplified form of the US coat of arms. The letters are V and I standing for Virgin Islands.
Puerto Rico. The island of Puerto Rico's flag was designed in 1891 and the star represents the Fatherland.
Ohio. The shape of the flag represents the hills and valleys of Ohio.

Oklahoma. The blue symbolizes loyalty and devotion, the shield stands for protection, and the crossed olive branch and pipe of peace symoblize the desire for peace.

Oregon. Also surrounding the coat of arms are 33 stars which symbolize that Oregon was the 33rd state to enter the union.

Micronesia. The blue color represents the Pacific Ocean. Formerly known as the Caroline Islands, Micronesia has been administered by the US since 1947 and gained her independence in the 1980's and joined the United Nations on September 17th 1991.
I am also a blue flag. In my upper left hand corner is a star with 24 points. The four longer points represent Majuro, Wotji, Jaluit and Kwajalein. Marshall Islands. The rays form a cross representing the Christian faith of the islanders. The stars position represents the postition of the Marshall Islands a few degrees north of the equator.
The Marshall Islands gained independence in 1986.

California. This flag is based on the design of 14th June 1846 when an indpendent Californian Republic was proclaimed.

South Carolina. The palmetto tree is a symbol of victory. It was adopted in 1776 when the fort of Sullivan's Island in Charleston Harbor defeated the British fleet.
