Tom Bombadil. What is his wife called?

Goldberry. Bombadil is the eighth person to handle the ring. Significantly he puts it on his finger and it seems to have no effect on him. Yet this character did not make it into the film, which was a shame.

Isildur. Into which river does the ring go after he loses it?

Anduin. Isildur was the second person to handle the ring. It was he that cut it from the hand of Sauron. He lost it after being attacked and killed by Orcs. The ring is sometimes called Isildur's Bane.

Frodo. One of Frodo's relatives is killed by Saruman's henchmen. Who?

Lotho. Frodo carries the ring from the Shire to Mordor where it is destroyed. Grima Wormtongue kills Lotho Sackville-Baggins.

Deagol. A quote. "I have given you a present..."

Already. Deagol finds the ring whilst he and Smeagol are out fishing. He does not manage to hold on to it for very long because Smeagol wants it so much that he kills him for it.

Sauron. He is sometimes called "The..."?

Deceiver. Sauron was originally Maiar before he became a servant of Melkor. Sauron created and wore the one ring. He was known as "The deceiver by the men of Numenor.

Sam. Whom does he marry?

Rosie. Sam has the ring for a short time. This is after Frodo has been attacked by Shelob and captured by Orcs. Sam uses the ring to rescue Frodo. Frodo insists that Sam should give the ring back to him so he does.

Gandalf. He is one of the...?

Istari. Gandalf handles the ring but never wears it. The Istari were sent to Middle Earth to keep an eye on Sauron. Saruman and Radagast were also Istari.

Bilbo. In whose house does Bilbo stay after leaving the Shire following his eleventy first birthday?

Elrond's. Bilbo is the person who hands the ring over to Frodo. He is not altogether willing to do so but Gandalf convinces him that it is the right thing to do.

Smeagol. A quote. " Give us that Deagol my ...?

Love. Smeagol steals the ring from Deagol. He holds on to it even though it makes him an outcast. It is Bilbo that takes the ring from him. Smeagol is also known as Gollum.
