It's true that all of these states are well-known for their excellent ski resorts, but I can attest to the fact that you will find no better powder than in Utah. The source of Utah's powdery snow is suggested to be the 'lake effect'. When cold winter storms blow through northern Utah they are often enhanced by evaporation from the Great Salt Lake, which produces a much more ample snowfall. Several ski resorts along the Wasatch mountain range, including Alta, Snowbird, Park City and Deer Valley, are the beneficiaries of this effect.

8. Let's test your geography a bit. In which country might you find the Snowy River, mate?

Answer: Australia

You might recall the 1982 film 'The Man from Snowy River' (and its 1988 sequel, 'Return to Snowy River'), starring Tom Burlinson and Kirk Douglas (good films, both). You will find the real Snowy River in the southern state of Victoria.

Snowdon (called 'Yr Wyddfa' in Welsh) isn't exactly the tallest mountain in the world (3,560 ft/1,085 meters), but it is the highest mountain in Wales. It is located in the northern Welsh county of Gwynedd, in Snowdonia National Park. It's one of the northernmost peaks of the Cambrian Mountains.

10. A certain Mr. Snow became George W. Bush's second Secretary of the Treasury in February of 2003. What is the first name of this former captain of industry?

Answer: John

John Snow replaced Paul O'Neill in the job of treasury secretary in early 2003 following O'Neill's resignation. Snow had served as chairman of CSX, America's largest railroad company, for 14 years before accepting the top position in the treasury department under Bush.
