To what hospital is Nate taken after his collapse?

St. Bridget's. Maggie calls David, using Nate's cell phone, and tells him to meet her at the hospital, and then asks David to call Brenda.

Nate has a roommate in the hospital. What is this man's name?
Chuck. We find out later that Chuck is a Buddhist.

When Claire comes to the hospital, and sees Maggie there, she asks David, "Why is she here?" What is David's answer?
Later. David was correctly reluctant to discuss the circumstances in front of Brenda. There was no need for Brenda to know that Maggie and Nate were together before Nate's collapse. She did find out later.

What snack food does Brenda get from the machine at the hospital?
Ruffles. David sees her eating the chips, and asks her, "Would you like me to go to the cafeteria and get you some tea, or some real food?" To which Brenda replies, "No, I'm fine with these." This is also when Brenda tells David that the baby she's carrying is a girl.

Who baby-sits Maya while Brenda is at the hospital?
Margaret. Nate is not happy when he hears this, and Brenda tells him, "It was an emergency."

When Ruth wanders through the park, looking for a way home, she encounters a group of Chinese people. What are they doing/practicing?
Tai Chi. Ruth gets a ride home on their bus, along with some advice. Namely, "Stick with the devil you know."

A familiar actress played Nate's brain surgeon, Dr. Fraker. From which NBC series do we know her?
L.A. Law. Michele Greene played Abby Perkins from 1986-1991. She was also featured on the very short-lived "Bay City Blues."

Which side of Nate's body is paralyzed?
Right. Nate says it feels strange and that it takes a lot of effort to get anything to happen. Sadly, he doesn't live to get the physical therapy that might help.

Fisher and Diaz do get a body at the beginning of this episode. What is the deceased's last name?
Matheson. Lawrence Hall Matheson; mauled by a cougar while hiking in the canyon. When Rico describes the death while at the hospital visiting Nate, Nate brings up the concept of the "ecotone." The ecotone is the place where nature and civilization overlap. That is the idea behind the title of this episode.

When Claire and Ted are out to dinner, Claire says, "I think we've stumbled onto a Republican nest." Ted disagrees with the use of the word "nest." Which word does he say he thinks Claire means?
enclave. This is how Claire finds out that Ted is a Republican. They argue about the war in Iraq until she gets the phone call about Nate.

Which of David and Keith's sons hates hospitals?
Anthony. Anthony tries to run out of the hospital twice. Their mother was a drug addict, and Durrell explains to David, "We always had to go when Mama OD'd."

How many times does Brenda say she tried to call Nate while he was with Maggie?
    20. This scene was where Brenda figured out what Nate and Maggie were really doing for two hours.

When the brain surgeon tells the family that Nate might have brain damage, Ted mentions that a relative of his had a stroke and learned to walk and talk again. Which relative?
His grandfather. Claire doesn't care. She says that this is the worst possible news she could get.

During the dream sequence, which transfers from Nate to David, we hear a classic R&B tune, "Strawberry Letter 23," by The Brothers Johnson. What year was this record originally released?
1977. Great song. We hear only the words, "Strawberry Letter 22," not "23." The singer is looking forward to number 23, of the letters his girlfriend wrote on strawberry scented paper.

After Nate dies, the screen on his monitor, indicating his respiratory rate, strangely does not read "0" (zero). What number does it say?
    3. And why hasn't a nurse responded to the alarm? Hmmm... Incidentally, the death of Nathaniel Samuel Fisher, Jr. is Number 18 on TV Land's "Most Unexpected Moments." Thanks for playing, and being a "SFU" fan.
