Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Harry meets Mr. Olivander for the first time, which wand law is introduced?

Answer: The wand chooses the wizard.

Mr. Ollivander tells Harry that the wand chooses the wizard when he first meets him in his shop in Diagon Alley (Book 1). This law is reiterated in Book 7 when Harry questions Mr. Ollivander about his discussion about wands with Voldemort.
2. What can mend a broken wand?

Answer: Elder Wand in combination with the spell "Reparo"

According to Mr. Ollivander, nothing can mend a broken wand, even if it's not completely broken in half (Book 7).
Hermione tried to fix Harry's wand using the spell "Reparo" with limited success, Harry's wand, however, broke in half again after he tried a couple of spells (Book 7).
Ron also had limited success with spellotape, however, most of his spells backfired causing him to burp up slugs for hours after trying to curse Draco Malfoy, and Gilderoy Lockhart lost his memory after using Ron's Wand in the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2).
After Voldemort's defeat, Harry was able to mend his old wand with the Elder Wand using the spell "Reparo" (Book 7).
3. Is it true that spells said under water work have the same effect as those cast on land?

Answer: No

While the end result of the spell "Relashio" is the same, the effect of the spell is different when used under water.
When Harry uses the spell "Relashio" under water (only bubbles come out of his mouth). His wand shoots out a jet of boiling water and burns the grindylows' skin and the grindylow let go of Harry (Book 4).
When Harry uses the same spell at Gringotts to free the dragon, the chains simply fall off (Book 7).
4. Which spell is used to force a wand to show the last spell it performed?

Answer: "Prior Incantato"

Mr. Diggory uses the spell "Prior Incantato" after finding Winky the elf with Harry's wand in her hand and the Dark Mark having been cast. The spell shows that Harry's wand was used to cast the spell (Book 4).
"Deletrius" simply deletes a revealed spell (Book 4).
Hermione uses "Reveale" in a potions class while working on an antidote for a poison given to the students by Professor Slughorn (Book 6).
I made up "Regurgitate"
5. With which magical creature do wizards share the secrets of wandlore?

Answer: None

When Harry talks to Griphook at Shell's Cottage, Griphook is quite bitter that wizards won't share the secrets of wandlore (Book 7).
6. Does the wand learn from the wizard and the wizard learn from the wand?

Answer: Yes

Mr. Ollivander states this when he discusses wand law with Harry at Shell's Cottage (Book 7).
7. According to Mr. Ollivander, what is not necessary to take true possession of another wizard's wand?

Answer: to kill the owner

Mr. Ollivander tells Harry, that it matters in which way a wand was taken from its owner. However, killing is not necessary (Book 7.) This is the reason that the wand Ron gave to Harry after Harry's wand broke, didn't quite work for Harry.
8. What is Albus Dumbledore's theory why Harry's wand performed magic against Voldemort of its own accord?

Answer: Harry's wand imbibed some of Voldemort's power when the two battled after Voldemort's rebirth.

This is probably the most complex and most unusual of the laws and workings of a wizard's wand. Harry's and Voldemort's wand connected in the graveyard of Little Hangleton and Voldemort's wand was forced to regurgitate prior spells (Book 4). At the same time, Harry's wand took some of the power and qualities from Voldemort's wand and in some respect from Voldemort himself. When Voldemort attacks Harry with Lucius Malfoy's wand, Harry's wand recognizes Voldemort behind the attack, or maybe it recognized Malfoy's reluctance to give up his wand to Voldemort (so the wand's allegiance was still with Malfoy); thereby enabling Harry's wand to use some of Voldemort's power against the Dark Lord (Book 7).
9. How did Harry gain the allegiance of the Elder Wand?

Answer: Harry defeated Draco Malfoy and took his wand at Malfoy Manor.

When Harry defeated Draco Malfoy at Malfoy Manor and took his wand from him, the wand changed allegiance. At the same time, the Elder Wand, even though in possession of Voldemort, changed its allegiance to Harry. Harry took a big gamble at this when he confronted his enemy in the Great Hall for the last time and he even told Voldemort so (Book 7). But then, the wand chooses the wizard!
10. According to the story "The Tale of the Three Brothers" as told in Book 7, Death created the Elder Wand. How can the Elder Wand's power be broken?

Answer: The owner of the Elder Wand has to die undefeated.

Albus Dumbledore knew that the only way to break the Elder Wand's power was to die undefeated and he intended for Severus Snape to help him in this task; however, Draco Malfoy gained the wand's allegiance when he took it from Dumbledore before Snape killed the headmaster (Book 7).
