Pirates' Swoop. Daine finds Kitten after falling through the roof of a cave. Kitten's mother had been killed while protecting Daine and her friends. The dragon asks Daine to take care of her dragonling as she was killed with liquid fire.

They had lead poisoning. The emperor's exotic birds had gotten lead poisoning by eating the enamel off the decorative metal vines around the birds' room. Daine figured that out after examining the feces the birds had dropped on her while she healed them.

What was the difficulty Daine had with her first pregnancy?

Her baby kept switching species. While Daine was pregnant, she shifted shape and the baby got the wrong idea. Daine's mother, Sarra, scolded the baby and it chose to be a human girl. Daine's daughter was Sarralyn.
