Answer: Paul Lambert

Paul Lambert moved from Motherwell to Borussia Dortmund in 1996, and a year later helped them win the Champions League. That night in Munich when they defeated Juventus 3-1, Lambert became the first British player to win the Champions League.
2. Name the player who lined up against Gordon Banks at Wembley, three times during 1963 while representing three different teams?

Answer: Denis Law

The 'Law Man' turned out for Scotland in a 2-1 victory against England. He also played for the triumphant Manchester United against Leicester in the English Cup Final. Denis alongside fellow Scot Jim Baxter, was selected to represent a Rest of the World team against England in a glamour game, arranged to celebrate 100 years of the Football Association. England beat the Rest of the World 2-1 that day, and of course Denis Law was on the score sheet.
3. Name the two Old Firm goalkeepers who have faced each other in an International match, that did not involve the Scottish National team?

Answer: Chris Woods: England / Packie Bonner: Republic of Ireland

Back in 1990, Chris Woods of Rangers and Pat Bonner of Celtic faced each other for England and the Republic of Ireland, respectively. The match was a European Championship qualifier, played in front of a crowd of 45,000 which ended in a 1-1 draw. Incidentally, Frank Haffey of Celtic wasn't an Australian.

He only emigrated there a few years after he conceded nine goals playing for Scotland when they los 9-3 to England in 1961.
4. Name the 2 goalkeepers who opposed each other in both English and Scottish League Cups in the same season, and amazingly both games ended 7-1 with one of the keepers being on the wrong side on both occasions?

Answer: Ronald Waterreus: Rangers & Manchester City / Nick Colgan: Dundee United & Barnsley

Manchester City defeated Barnsley in the second round of the English League Cup during the 2004-05 season in front of a crowd of 19,578. On February 3, 2005, Rangers defeated Dundee United in the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup at Hampden Park. The games finished 7-1 and poor Nick Colgan, who went on loan from Barnsley to Dundee United, and ended up on the losing side on both occasions.
5. Which player has appeared in 3 losing Scottish Cup finals while representing three different clubs in three different decades?

Answer: Mixu Paatelainen

Paatelainen played for Dundee United against Celtic in the 1988 final, he turned out for Aberdeen against Rangers in the 1993 final and against Celtic for Hibs in 2001. Sadly for Mixu, he lost them all. His bad luck was not confined to Scotland. In 1995, he played for Bolton Wanderers against Liverpool in the English League Cup Final, needless to say, they lost.
6. Which team playing at Volunteer Park was expelled from the Scottish League in 1932?

Answer: Armadale Thistle

Armadale Thistle for a short spell (1921 until 1932) was a Scottish Senior League team. They fell victim to a ruling from the Scottish Football League that stopped them hosting greyhound-racing at their ground Volunteer Park. As the majority of their income was generated through the dogs, they were forced out of the league.

They still existed as a Scottish Junior Club, and although their stadium has a capacity of 3000, they only attracted crowds of around 100 spectators for home games.
7. Who was the first scoring substitute in a Scottish FA Cup final?

Answer: Derek Johnstone

Derek came on as a substitute during the 1971 Scottish Cup Final for Rangers against Celtic and scored a last minute equalizer to earn a replay. Rangers lost the return match 2-1. The same year, another Scotsman Eddie Kelly was becoming the first scoring substitute in an English FA Cup Final for Arsenal against Liverpool.

A year earlier, Johnstone at the tender age of 16, out-jumped Celtic's legendary captain Billy McNeil to head the winning goal in the 1970 Scottish League Cup final which Rangers won 1-0.
8. Who was the first player to captain a Scottish FA Cup winning team, and later in his career captained an English FA Cup winning team?

Answer: Martin Buchan

Buchan captained Aberdeen in the 1970 Scottish Cup Final when they beat Jock Stein's Celtic 3-1. Seven years later, he lifted the English FA Cup when Manchester United defeated Bob Paisley's Liverpool 2-1. Billy Bremner lifted the English FA Cup for Leeds in 1972.

A year later, Bobby Kerr captained Sunderland to victory in the English FA Cup. Frank McLintock skippered Arsenal to the English League and Cup double in season 1970-71.
9. Which Scottish Club was the first to play in a UEFA Cup Final?

Answer: Dundee United

In 1987, Dundee United lost 2-1 to Sven Goran Eriksson's IFK Gothenburg in a two-legged final. In 2003, Celtic lost 3-2 to José Marinho's F.C. Porto in Seville, and Rangers were beaten 2-0 by Dick Advocaat's Zenit St. Petersburg in 2007.
10. Viv Anderson was the first black player to play for England in 1978. Who was the first black player to be capped by Scotland?

Answer: Andrew Watson

In 1881, Andrew Watson who was born in British Guiana, won the first of his three caps for Scotland. Watson who came to Scotland to study at Glasgow University and played for the leading team of the time Queen's Park. Not only was he the first black international footballer, he was also the first black football administrator.
