Which seasonal holiday is approaching?

    Christmas. The season is Christmas, and Ginny is expecting her first baby.

What is Ginny's husband called?
    Dan. Dan, Ginny's husband is portrayed as being useless, by his wife. Ginny often wonders what he will be like with their new arrival.

The ante natal class which Ginny attends, is only by a selection process. Who is the ante natal class teacher?
    Petal Harmon. This ultra selective class is run by Petal Harmon. Petal interviews all prospective mums to be, and if chosen sends a handwritten invitation.

How many expectant mothers are there in the class with Ginny?
    six. All six pregnant ladies (the "geese") are all due round Christmas time. Ginny introduces the other women as the book progresses. She refers to them as smug and a little bit stuck up.

Which lady's attendance at the classes is poor?
    Gabby. Gabby is a high flier with her own business. She either arrives late, or just doesn't turn up. Only pregnant because her husband wanted a baby, Gabby has already booked herself in for a Caesarian Section and a live in nanny.

The geese discuss what to call their prospective offspring. Geraldine likes the name Holly, Ginny mentions the name Ivy. Which goose wants to call her baby Melchior?
    Georgia. Georgia mentions the name Melchior, and states that it could be for a boy or a girl, shortened to Mel. The other geese are horrified at this name, except for Grace.

Who is the youngest goose?
    Grace. Grace is looked down upon by the rest of the women. She is only 22 years old, and the rest of these women wonder why she was selected for the classes.

Which goose says "Breastfeeding raises the IQ"?
    Georgia. According to Georgia, she plans on breastfeeding and playing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto daily to her baby as advised in a magazine she has read entitled "Intelligent Baby".

On the day of the last ante natal class, is it snowing?
    Yes. As Ginny was being driven by her husband, he had commented on the snow. When the geese are inside they also observe that it is snowing.

For the final class, a mysterious guest speaker produces a laptop, and images appear on the laptop one by one, of the geese in the future, in labour. Who is this strange person?
    Ghost of Babies Future. The stranger is the "ghost of babies future". It is in part reference to "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens. The geese thought they had been chosen because of their affluence, but discover at the last class that there was a deeper meaning.
