My name was Ruth Hollis. I was created by author K.M. Peyton. I once owned a pony named "Fly", but I changed that name to "Fly-by-Night", which became the name of the book in which we appeared. I was always attracted to bad boys, so it wasn't all that odd that I married a young man with great musical ability and a criminal record. We had a little boy whom we called "Lud" as a pet name. After I outgrew Fly-by-Night, I had another pony. What was his name?

Black Beauty was a horse in "Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell, Pheasant was in K.M. Peyton's "Flambards" series and Siani was in Monica Edwards' "Romney Marsh" series.

I live with a pony companion named Black Boy, and I feature in several books from one series. I was created by author Ruby Ferguson. Who is my owner?

Eventually, she discovered why and the situation was sorted out. Rapide first appeared in "Jill Has Two Ponies". Tamzin Grey's pony was called "Cascade". They appeared in Monica Edwards' "Romney Marsh" series. Patrick Merrick owned "Mr Buster" and "The Idiot Boy". He appeared in Antonia Forest's "Marlow" series. Joey Bettany, from "The Chalet School" series, didn't have a pony.

I was a dog. I belonged to Jem Blythe, who was the son of Anne (Shirley) Blythe and her husband, Gilbert. I was terribly sad when Jem's brother Walter died, and it was because I didn't howl when Jem was missing in action during the war that Anne believed he was still alive. She was right! I was created by L.M. Montgomery. What was my name?

Little Dog Monday. Little Dog Monday was Jem's dog. He is one of several dogs and cats that come and go through Montgomery's "Anne" books.

Missis. Missis was the mother of the 15 puppies in the book and its sequel "The Starlight Barking".

My name is Blinky Bill, and I was created by Dorothy Wall. I have a friend named Nutsy. I lived in the Australian bush, and had lots of adventures. What was I?

A koala. Blinky Bill was a koala. He has always been a popular character and has appeared in many books, in a film and some TV series.

We are called Little Bear and Little Swan, and we belong to an old man known as the Alm Uncle. We were created by Johanna Spyri, and you can read about us in a book called "Heidi". What are we?

Goats. Little Bear and Little Swan were the goats Heidi loved. Peter the goatherd looked after them. The Alm Uncle used them for milk to make his cheese.
