Special Sub-Topic: Vala Mal Doran - This is Your Life!
Vala Mal Doran was host to a Goa'uld symbiote, much like Skaara was to Klorel. What was the name of the Goa'uld which shared her body?
Qetesh. Qetesh was extracted from Vala by the Tok'ra and as Goa'uld cannot survive after removal from their host, it is highly likely that she died. Qetesh was a rival of Ba'al, who tortured Jack O'Neill and was a major Goa'uld threat to Earth. Jolinar (of Malkshur) was the Tok'ra who was carried as a symbiote by Samantha Carter. Sokar was a Goa'uld system lord who nearly reached Earth by heating up the Iris and passing through it.
Vala Mal Doran discovered she was pregnant but with a child that was immaculately conceived. When she asked for a precedent, the first example given was Jesus.
f. She asked Cameron Mitchell, Carter and Teal'c if any of them had heard of anything like her situation. Mitchell was about to gives the example of King Arthur, but Teal'c quickly spoke up and said Darth Vader instead. Vala, not aware that Vader was fictitious, inquired how that panned out.
Vala Mal Doran had a certain typical hairstyle, which she used as her coiffure for most of the seasons of the show which she was in, but what was it?
Pigtails. Vala wore her hair loose in episodes of the TV series, however, especially when she was inducted into SG-1, she adopted the pigtails as her go-to style. This was representative of Vala's playful, naive and immature attitude to life. Even though she was a Goa'uld host and a thief, Vala was still very much a woman-child, who did not behave quite like a mature adult.
Vala Mal Doran was a chatty and upbeat person on "Stargate SG-1", but what did Vala say was "a mistake the moment she [Vala] said it"?
"We're already trapped in here. How much worse can it get?". The correct answer is a quote from the episode "Avalon: Part I" (season 9, episode 1) when Daniel and Vala were in a cavern looking for the treasure that Vala claimed to have something valuable so the SGC would permit her through the Stargate. When the both pots appeared to be empty, Vala became agitated and spoke the line quoted.
Vala Mal Doran was an alien being, so her early life with any family did not take place on Earth, but who were the blood relations that were mentioned/present in the TV show?
Jacek and Adria. Jacek was Vala's father, who appeared in the episode "Family Ties" (season 10, episode 18) and was a thief and con-man by trade. Jacek was married to Adria (Vala's stepmother, not her daughter) but Vala was sold into domestic service. Adria (played by Morena Baccarin) was the Orici, a child born to Vala to lead the Ori. Adria grew very fast and was taken from her mother and became a major villain of the TV series. Ry'ac was the son of Teal'c and Selmak is the Tok'ra who lived as a symbiote with Samantha Carter's father, Jacob.
When Vala Mal Doran was willing to sacrifice herself in order to destroy the Supergate, she was transported into the Ori galaxy and mistaken for dead by the members of the SGC. Who found her, nursed her and married her?
Tomin. Tomin was a soldier of the Ori army living on Ver Isca whom Vala married so that she would not be put to death for bearing a child out of wedlock. Vala left Tomin to return to the SGC before the birth of her child but they met again when she was delivered of Adria and told Vala that her baby was the Orici. Thor was an Asgard who came to the aid of Earth, the SGC and SG-1 on multiple occasions, then the action was reciprocated when SG-1 helped Thor to escape from the Replicators that had become a plague on his ship. Urgo was an illusion who was placed in the minds of SG-1 and made them do stupid things. Fifth was a human-form Replicator who captured and tortured Sam Carter.
Vala, as a beautiful and exotic character, was dressed in some fabulous costumes, but Vala's signature black corset and trousers outfit, which was used for her action figure was featured in which episode?
"Avalon: Part I". In "Avalon: Part I" (season 9, episode 1), Vala returned through the stargate to the SGC, with the information that she had a tablet treasure map in her possession. Normally Vala's clothes were army designed, but her other notable outfit was worn when she pretended to be Qetesh in "The Powers That Be" (season 9, episode 5).
When Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran's minds were implanted in the bodies of Harrid and Sallis, a married couple in Ver Eger, Vala/Sallis was 'executed' by The Administrator for performing a ritual wrongly and speaking out of turn. What was the manner of her 'death'?
Burned. In "Avalon: Part II" (season 9, episode 2), Vala left to meet with a friend of Sallis' who was the wife of a type of priest. Vala was put in the centre of a type of altar while Daniel was made to watch as a burning liquid made its way towards a screaming Vala and then enveloped her in flames because she was accused of heresy by the priest's wife. She was revived by a Prior.
During a dinner with Dr. Jackson, Vala was kidnapped by a member of The Trust, a terrorist group. At the time of a rescue attempt, Vala lost something. What was it?
her memory. In "Memento Mori" (season 10, episode 8), Daniel offered to take Vala off-base, since she rarely got the chance to go out to the restaurant Il Fiore Bianco, where she was kidnapped. The device that was to be used to stimulate her memory was hit by a blast and her memory went. Daniel later helped her to regain her memories and spending time back at Cheyenne Mountain helped in the task.
Vala Mal Doran's primary love interest was Dr. Jackson. They had at worst a spiteful relationship, at best a friendly one. In which episode did Vala and Daniel start a relationship?
unending. In the series finale, "Unending", the team were trapped in a localized time field, where they were isolated from everybody else. After Vala attempted to seduce Daniel, he confronted her and after seeing her cry, he realised the truth behind her intentions and that she was not just a flirtatious, teasing, insincere girl. While in isolation, they continue their relationship but when Sam Carter fixed the issue, neither recalled their intimacy. Teal'c, the only one who had the ability to tell them what occurred, refused to share his knowledge.
