Quote:

I eagerly lifted this idea from the FT Chat Boards (a major bow to SOTHC over there who seems to be the driving force of the idea *salutes offered soundly*). It's a fun game and challenging, too - without being so difficult that migraines ensue. Here's the idea: Say I give you this as a clue:
"pistol, anger, slang for cash, magic stick" (movie)
Your initial response would be "What the heck is that supposed to mean?" It means...
"Gun, wrath, dough, wand" ~ and it is a movie!
Stop and say it aloud - that answer, then, would translate to "Gone With the Wind", yes ? So that's the idea - say something [books, films, sports teams, well-known phrases, people - basically any recognizable assembly of words] using a different assembly of the definitions of other words. If that makes sense . Another example:
"Shopping destination, clutch, twirl" (celebrity)
Sounds like 'Mall, Grip, Spin', doesn't it? Which, in turn, strongly suggests 'Mel Gibson'.
I have no idea if this'll work here but let's give it a whack [we can work out any "bugs" as we go]. Solve the phrase/thing before you and leave your new phrase/thing for the next person to solve (and no need to wait to see if your guesses are right or not - if they're not, you'll get word of it later).

Also...please put the number of letters in each word leading toward the answer you are seeking in parantheses after the clues; i.e. [from above] - shopping destination, clutch, twirl (4,4,4)....

Another note: Please specify after your clue the "category" of the answer (i.e,: book, movie, country, etc.). There is no need to change the title of the thread ~ mostly because, on the site overall, we're not supposed to and, second of all, it can get confusing to those of us not used to seeing the changes up there.

Dock Tar Hoosier East Too is correct, and it is indeed "Doctor Who Series 2".

So, whoever thinks they should claim it can. wink

Still just 'has' or 'sue' are right

Maybe 'exemplary' wasn't a great clue. Think 'superb' or 'excellent' for that word instead
