I'm trying to access my messages, but every time I log into the forums and click on the link it tells me I need to log in. I log in again and the same thing happens, time and time again. Yet it will allow me to post in this part of the forums. But why can't I access my messages?

Probably a browser issue. Sometimes browsers get confused with cookies.... best thing is to either restart the browser or in worst case delete temporary files / cookies.

If you're using IE10, maybe Terry's solutions won't work out. If so, try another browser.

Is there a specific problem with IE10?

What is not the issue with IE10? Almost every special feature from FT is incompatible with IE10.

Here are some of the problems I encountered:

- access to the forums

- selecting a subcategory for a new quiz

- accepting author's challenges

I'm not trying to boycott IE10, but I switch to another browser at least once a day to get access to special features.

Weird, the "select a subcategory" isn't working for me either.

I was SURE I put a fix in for that a long time ago and thought that issue was solved.. or am I going crazy?

I just uploaded the latest patched version of that component... maybe there was a new IE10 incompatibility they fixed.

Can you give the category-browser a try in IE10 and let me know if it all works for you (both of you)? Seems to work for me...

Thanks

(And kyle -- in the quiz editor itself -- does the category browser work there too in IE10 now?)

I haven't tried or used IE10. I've been gleaning the issues from authors in here and in the Lounge. I'll be able to download and check it later tonight; perhaps someone will beat me to it.

As for the IE10 forum issue, can you explain precisely what the issue is?

I just entered the forums, logged in, quit the browser, returned (still logged in), and made this post using IE 10.

The forum issue is that one has to log in (type the correct password), and gets a read/only version. Upon checking one finds that one still isn't logged in, even after entering the correct password.

As you could find a way round this problem, maybe you have already solved this issue. It dates back a couple of weeks.

Another problem I've encountered in IE10 is the level perk to see the upcoming Expert Games.

Upcoming expert games is a bug across all browsers I think. It's on the short list of things to fix over the next few days.

Have you tried the category selection in new quizzes yet under IE10? Does it work now for you?

Upcoming Expert works on Chrome. Please don't change that!

All reports I've seen about Expert vision are IE10 related. It can be worked around by turning on compatibility mode for the page (or best for the entirety of FT, which will also fix the category issue)

It seems that the forum is unable to correctly set your login cookie, which would produce exactly the phenomenon shown. Check in your settings that you're allowing cookies from funtrivia.com - Microsoft tends to change security / privacy settings upon updates without being asked, almost always towards significantly restrictive values.
