It looks fabulous now though, and as you say, you'll get a lot of use out of that patio. I think if it were mine I'd be out there all the time.

Mike: Wonderful photo of the bee/flowers. I keep forgetting that you're opposite from us (the last apple finally fell off our tree after the frost several days ago).

Mehaul: oh my. I'd love a digital microscope. Or for that matter, a digital telescope (or digital camera with the ability to incorporate one). Very interesting. Hope we'll see more of these!

David: I like all your pictures, but I'm becoming concerned that some of your populace has been abducted by aliens lol. How on earth do you manage to get so many photos with no people in them??

Dot: Loved the trees on the beach. Seems weird for such BIG trees to be growing there. Mother Nature is amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Mother Goose: The reno is fabulous. However, you're going to have to get a MUCH larger table for all that new space lol. And you have an aviary??? Do tell....

I've no idea how my photos have no people in them, obviously any you can recognise don't get added, but ones you can't just don't seem to be around in many of them, I can't really explain it either.

This is the Holiday Inn at Heathrow Airport. I wasn't flying, just taking photos round there. And there is a person walking by!

Christina, we "christened" it the day after the pavers went down by having a big breakfast for about 20 people from our Sherlock Holmes Society. Subsequently, we had an afternoon tea for 12 people and have had a few barbecues for, on average, 6 people each time. And that's been over the winter period. As summer is approaching here, I expect it is going to be used for entertaining almost every weekend.

Jakeroo, the table is a 10-seater (we can fit 12 if necessary), plus we have other tables and chairs we can put out there.

I'll post a picture of the aviary in the near future.

Isn't there a rule against people in photos in the Forum?

David, is that hotel the old Arial Hotel? It looks like it and if it is then it can tell some tales for sure. smile The company for which I used to work back in the sixties and early seventies used to run courses in Greenford and we used to be put up in a varienty of hotels either in Bayswater or in Heathrow airport hotels. One hotel that I stayed in was the Arial, then they banned people from our company, but nothing to do with me - oops. smile

It certainly is, and it looks far newer than the 60s. I always liked driving along Bath Road then as all the new hotels looked like America (as did Croydon) and very unlike most British roads. My plan is working round the map for my Ordnance Survey site while I can adding new spots whenever I can in the season, which is when the clocks are forward. I have half a week left now and may manage one more trip before it's down to local duties again when it gets dark at 4.

Christina, no they are not Christmas lights, they are in Roker Park, Sunderland and are lights based on the Alice in Wonderland theme. They used to have lights to extend the season (as Blackpool) but haven't had them for some time, apparently. These lights are only for three weeks.

Pool area filled in - house seems "naked".

My goodness! How different from the finished terrace you showed us a few days ago, a total transformation! It must have taken you a while to get used to seeing your gorgeous patio instead of the open pool space you had before!

The Boating Lake and Poet's Bridge at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth. If it was not such a dreary day I would also have been able to get Mt Egmont/Taranaki in the photo...

Patio under construction. (We also had solar panels installed which you can see on the roof).
