I'm just wondering if it's possible to increase the number of letters allowed in the introduction in the Brain Twist category.

These often require the instructions to the quiz and an example - which uses letters up pretty fast.

These are vital in this category unlike the others where you can tailor your introduction to the number of letters allowed.

Can't you use question 1 for the example? It makes it a bit long, but since these quizzes are usually only played in html, that isn't such a problem. Your introduction can then promise an example in Q1, for players who choose to continue.

Another way could be to have another intro text block for sample questions. Such as having the following on the quiz title page (and modifications, scores and like-links below these):

Quiz category
Quiz name
Author
Rating
Intro
Example

Limit the example size though.

Agreed with what LT has said. Since none of these questions are used for dailies/hourlies except the Brain Twist (in which case they're played in full in HTML mode), placing the example in q1 is perfectly fine. The same goes for any Word Play style quizzes in other categories.

Adding another field to the quiz template would be at Terry's discretion; I'm not sure how easy or difficult that would be to program in and I'm not sure it's entirely necessary. Beyond me anyways.

Examples should be in the intro or in Q1 as that way they can be seen by the player as they play Brain Twist. If the example was on the quiz title page it would be lost as soon as the player started playing or wouldn't be seen at all in Brain Twist. Spanishliz and I revised the quiz creation guidelines a while ago and for those categories which might need detailed instructions, have a theme or have a distinctive feature of some sort, authors are advised to put them in the intro or Q1. Logic quizzes can have a long Q1 due to the intro required but it's not a problem at all.

By the time you see Q1 in Brain Twists, you have committed to playing the quiz. The only option is to back out before a submit and I think in most cases that's called chea...

With Brain Twists specifically, there is no title screen, so having an exemplar on it won't matter anyways.

A hurdle to pass, not an impasse.

The title page does exist if you approach the quizzes through the Brain Teaser Category.

How is it cheating after clicking to play the quiz and then wanting to click the go back without submitting?
I guess it could be argued that doing so would allow you time to look up the answers to the quiz, but then again, so would having the quiz screen open at the same time as you look up answers.

smile No, not cheating - in the Brian Twist, aren't we specifically told we can come back to complete it at any time during the day?

As a devoted player of both the Brain Teasers and Brain Twist, I'm afraid I can't see the issue. I find that an example in Q1 is more than adequate, and a pithy intro is usually more appealing than a longer one with instructions anyway.

Same goes for the Bus Ride (for which you're actually given the link to Wiki). Not cheating. You can always work on the Brain Twist over the day and come back with the answers.

Don't quote my typos back at me please, lol!

Of course, I should have said "Brain Twits".
