Satguru- Half a million buys a 5 bedroom detatched house, in the town where I live in the north, that's nowt like a mansion! The 'mansions' are about 2.5 million plus! I don't think that you can buy a 'mansion' for half a million anywhere up north smile

Dot, what a wonderful painting!

I haven't kept up with the prices outside London for some years, but even if not quite a mansion the difference is usually comparable size per size whatever the prices at the time. I'll go and see how much Richmond is now charging for terraced cottages as they may well have gone up even more.

I've just been making stills from my friend's video made in the 80s, this was when we went to Batley in Yorkshire in 1987

They have now overtaken the half million mark, the average cottages in Richmond are now around £725,000

The A3 in Kingston Vale, just before the old camera packed up and lost a walk around Wimbledon.

The Børsen in central Copenhagen with its Dragon Spire (four dragon tails twisted around each other reaching a height of 56m). Built between 1619 and 1640 and home of the Danish stock exchange until 1974.

I don't know Ren, but the minute the camera comes out she's there, doing her "I'm ready for my close up" bit.

What are those white things in the middle of the lily pond? Seems to me they are too large to be lilies.

It is "Aotearoa", a bronze sculpture painted white by Michael Smither. Represents 4 white clouds with the Maori name for New Zealand being Aotearoa (Land of the Long White Cloud).

After 8 years the original compact finally gave up after behaving for a year when I got the new one to replace it. As it's so useful having a compact as well I replaced it yesterday, and it's actually far better at night than the big one.
