When the new camera which I've found works at night went off today I found how to take night photos with the big one as I thought it ought to do better, here's one result, Norbiton station in Kingston.

I have to go into town at night now, partly as you have to pay during the day and partly to avoid the traffic. This is the County Hall Hotel, opposite the actual County Hall (also now a hotel) in Waterloo.

Wow! Dramatic! (Is that a normal level of surf?)

It was a storm, as Ren said. People were evacuated out of their homes overnight. The wind speed of over 100 mph and a spring tide met and was quite a sight. The north Wales coast got off quite lightly compared to the east coast where houses were swept into the sea. frown

Awful. Your photo was stunningly effective. But of course the most dramatic photos often depict phenomena that affect people in ways they'd prefer not to experience. A good picture (such as yours) really brings that home.

Oh I think I'm about to faint! Someone catch me. Look at all those different versions of sliding glass doors (and windows to vend cones from?).

Edit: This comment is a tie in from Satguru's photo to the "En Passant" thread's topic drift to which way people's sliding glass doors opened, from the left or from the right.

Not a great photo but this is one of New Zealand's beautiful song birds - the tui, in the bush at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth. You can see the tuft of white feathers which lead to early Europeans calling it the parson bird.

More from the Christmas shop at our local garden centre. You can have this complete tree delivered and installed exactly as you see it for several hundred pounds!

I never expected patio doors to get anyone excited, that was a bonus! The ice creams are sold from the window on the left as well as indoors, I prefer 31 flavours myself but my parents used to like going there when I was young.

Hmmmmmmm. I feel a thread coming on. How about "Desserts"?
Yes That might be good for January's (never mind the New Year Resolutions) thread.

A very rare sign, I was told the road had one on every lamp post, now there are two left and this is the one which hasn't faded.

Thank you everyone for sharing your photos. I've enjoyed very much.

Howie, I had never thought of visiting Copenhagen but your photos really make me want to go see the beauty in person.

I love the pet pictures and the birds in the zoo. One of my dogs found an old shoe on a walk one day and for ten years, she slept with it and carried it around.

One of the few times cold coming to Florida is welcome is when the weather front's high altitude Cirrus clouds coincide with the golden hour of the dawn. My morning wake-up today:
