Twice recently I have had a correction note regarding a typo in an archived quiz, and both times the note has not had the box that enables me to say if the correction is right or wrong and how I want it fixed. Both times the note has come from an Editor - different ones, not the same one

I'm not sure if the Editors correction notes never have this box, or if the system is failing to pick up they are correcting as a player rather than an Ed. putting a quiz on line. Both times I have had to reply to the person sending the note explaining that their quiz lacks this box and then also write to a Category Ed. Both quizzes were in Geography but I don't know if that is relevant or not.

I think this is possibly a bug that needs a quick look at.

It sounds like a bug, as a correction note sent by an Editor would not be treated any differently than any other player.

check you InBox .. I've sent the same CN using my son's account; and it went through aok (with the box for your comments)

Terry fixed a bug with CNs the other week (Eds couldn't reply to them), which has created this one!

The one via your son's account is fine, has the normal comment box.

I came to report that I had the same problem as Christinap. I got a correction note from an editor on an old quiz and it happened to be an incorrect one. There was no place to report whether the correction note was valid or not. There was only a box at the bottom saying 'the issues outlined above have been corrected' - the kind you get when a quiz is sent back by an editor for corrections.

Bumping this up because I'm facing this problem again. The correction note has come from an editor taking the quiz as a player and is not fully correct but there is no box for me to explain this while dealing with the CN.

Click the box to say that the note has been dealt with. Send a note to the editor of the quiz advising what you did and why.

It would be easier to fix this bug. The editor who put the quiz online need not be around, especially for older quizzes, and correction notices are not always dealt with by the same editor who put the quiz online.

That's true, it would be good if this were fixed. I don't think Terry reads this forum regularly, so I'll bring it to his attention.

As for which editor to send a note to - any editor in the category can take care of the problem. If you've got a comfortable relationship with one editor in a category, send your note to them, if not, to any of the names. Or, if you like, you can write to me.

I am not sure if this is the place to note this, however.....Back in October 1957 I lay in the maternity ward of the local hospital listening to a strange beeping sound on the radio and we were told this was Sputnik which had just been launched. The date was October 4th 1957. As I had just "launched" my child into this world we thought it great to call her Sputty as a baby....LOL. Why have I mentioned this? Well forgive me for being a bit puzzled but today in the special quiz it is stated that this is the anniversary of the launching of Sputnik in 1961.???????

You are right, and the "On this Day" site that provided that information was wrong.

It's sort of right - apparently Sputnik 9 was launched in 1961 on this date. It had a dummy, a dog, mice and a guinea pig on board. I'm now off on a frantic search to find out if they survived. (Not the dummy).

Thank you LT, I knew my memory was not that bad. Incidentally Rossian the quiz did not say Sputnik9, just Sputnik. So in theory the statement was incomplete and slightly incorrect.

Now it says Sputnik 9, so it is correct, even if not nearly as memorable an event.

You all may enjoy this:

I got an hilarious correction notice today for an old quiz I'd done. Instead of typing Harrier II as the name of a war plane, I'd accidentally typed Harriet II instead.

The person who sent the correction notice said the correct name was Harrier but perhaps they were now calling them Harriet II to cater for female pilots.
