May be a bit too soon for more oystercatchers so instead we are on the shores of Lake Rotorua keeping an eye on a couple of mynahs or more likely, the mynahs are keeping an eye on me. You see them all over the road in places but somehow they all manage to get out of the way at the last second.

Great selection of photos as usual. Applause all around.

Wishing you a belated happy birthday, Ren, and those earrings are great!

Beautiful flowers! I love the ear rings smile and the birds too.

I don't think any flowers will be struggling through the snow hereabouts any time soon, I'm afraid. This will give you an idea of how deep the snow is, and why, moments later, Precious gave me a good telling-off for not carrying her.

I haven't been to Catford for a long time, which is why I went yesterday as it hadn't appeared on my photo map.

I don't know what this is going to turn into. They planted a few of these last week in our park. Right now they look like clumps of grass that got chewed up by a hedge trimmer.

Much of it is done by one of my neighbours with his snow blower, or my other wonderful neighbour with his shovel. I do my own steps and porch, and sometimes my front path (if Peter hasn't done it first). There is a municipal sidewalk plough but it isn't always very effective, even when it does show up.

The Russian submarine B-515 or as it is also known the U-434. Now it serves as a museum at the Fishmarkt ares of the River Elbe rather than part of the Russian North Sea fleet.

An entirely new view along Finchley Road, the JW3 Jewish cultural centre and a new block next to it, replacing a single storey block of shops and a large Mercedes garage a couple of years ago.

We have a lot of these shrubs around us. I didn't know they were flowering shrubs until a few started budding out after the warm weekend (80/26) we just had.

Brave Precious contemplates a romp across the still deep, but softening, snow to get at some birds she can hear over there. (She thought better of it, I'm happy to say.) Rain and warmer days have allowed me to get the steps cleared!

The church looks so serene and Precious is posing like an intrepid explorer.

You're obviously warmer than me, Christina, we are still at the snowdrop stage.

(That's my first time trying to post a photo using a tablet and the size has come out a bit wrong - if the file size is causing anyone's connection to the thread to slow down can you let me know? I am still learning the ropes on the device.)
