Lovely pic. I don't think I've ever seen a crab on a pub sign before.

I haven't been to the Isle of Wight since I was a teenager - Bob Dylan playing at the music festival, a now legendary appearance. However, I also used to go quite often as a child, living in Bournemouth, and it was in a time warp even then, doesn't look like much has changed. Great pictures Martin

Ah, memories. Until I was 17, I'd never been further across the sea than the Isle of Wight. I haven't been back since I was a teenager either; nothing like a music festival (those hadn't quite been invented then) but camping, and some sampling of the local scrumpy - I have never been so drunk in my entire life.

What a gorgeous photo. It is everything I have imagined a quaint town in the British Isles to look like.

The Iron Bridge (Eiserner Steg), a pedestrian bridge over the River Main connecting the Römerberg and Sachsenhausen in Frankfurt. Built in 1868 and rebuilt in 1946 after being blown up during WWII.

I love the thatched cottages!

Here's a sure sign of spring/summer - first outdoor meal of the year, at my sister's yesterday afternoon.

Martin's pictures of the Isle of Wight brought back memories for me too. I worked the whole of Summer 1959 at the Keats Green Hotel in Shanklin. Nothing has changed It looked exact;y like that. Thanks Martin.

Just so I am not discriminating against sunsets, here is a recent sunset seen from central Timaru. It would have been just a tad after 5pm as I was starting to walk home from the museum.

Nice sunset Howie.

It's been said that the Isle of Wight is in a time bubble of its own. It's kind of nice that they
don't change the more picturesque parts too much I think. I'm glad my photo brought back
such memories.
As if to prove a point about things there not changing much:

The Cornish Pumphouse in the gold mining town of Waihi near the Coromandel Peninsula. Built in 1904 and used until 1913 when the first hydroelectric power station on the Waikato River was built. It was kept in working order until 1929 as the miners did not trust electricity early on.

This was assumed to have ended up here yesterday, and has arrived a day later.

I got as far as Finchley today heading north and had to turn back, this was towards the end of it, you couldn't see further than the next car before this.

Today was Tuesday's journey, and kicked off just along the road from Finchley in Woodside Park, a typical nicer North London suburb

Wise words indeed...

Lucky for me, there was no sign of Mr. C. Edge anywhere.

Precious always likes to help when I'm getting the recycling ready to go out. This week she really threw herself into the job!

The virtually world famous Marble Arch. It's not easy to get a photo of and even harder to park the car and get close enough which I didn't get the chance to, even on a Saturday.

The not quite so world famous hills at the top of Burkes Pass in the MacKenzie Country on the way to Tekapo.

Today I went to something called Strut for Strays, an annual event to raise money for various animal causes. One of the attractions was "Air Dogs", a competition to see which dog would jump farthest into a pool of lovely cool water in pursuit of its favourite toy. This one went quite a long way!
