My favorite piece is Rimsky-Korsakov's Russian Easter Festival Overture.

I really enjoy some Bach and Handel as well. I'm still really new to classical music. I got my first helping of it over a year ago.

I have a Khachaturian opus (pure noise)

Mozart (eh)

Tchaikovsky

Richard Strauss

lots of old cassette tapes I never even listened to. Last summer I just kept replaying the Easter Overture, I love it!

Dvorak

Mendelssohn

Sibelius (snore)

Saint-Saens

I'm not trying to be rude. Some of it I just wasn't impressed with.

But after hearing the Easter Overture, what is left to be impressed about!

And then some of you will wonder why I'm knocking Mozart.

I'm not knocking him. I don't know his music that well. But honestly, some of it sounds like it was written by a five year old. Hey, okay, quiet down, I'm only kidding.

There are many other lesser-known composers that people are ignorant of.

Examples:

Joseph Jongen
Howard Hanson
George Antheil
Zoltan Kodaly
Gustav Holst
Olivier Messaien
Erik Satie
Edgar Varese
Vincent D'Indy
John Alden Carpenter
Charles Ives
R. Nathaniel Dett

Many more, you just have to look for them
