The first of the daffodils... these are Tęte-ŕ-tęte, a variety that only grows about 4 inches (10 cms) high.

The Semper Opera House in Dresden, home of the Saxon State Orchestra. The Opera House was built between 1838 and 1841 but closed in August 1944 and destroyed by Allied air attacks 6 months later. It was not finally rebuilt until 40 years later. Also had to be rebuilt after a fire in 1869 and closed temporarily in 2002 after the River Elbe flooded in 2002.

If you go for Christmas at my eldest niece's house you'll come away loaded with goodies, including an amaryllis bulb - the gift that goes on growing. Here's the one I got this time:

We went to Winchester on Wednesday to watch the Scaffold being put in place so that the roof can be renovated. It will be there for an estimated two years. I took a number of photos but this one maybe best shows the scale of the operation:

I got caught out (almost) when I went to the cathedral as it turned out the car park in town closed at six, and the attendant had to keep it open especially for me as I didn't know and probably kept him waiting about half an hour. I was very lucky he was so patient.

Yes, Jill, it does seem to be just , well, there.
I agree about Rosie. I WANT her. But it may confuse matters around here as I already have a cat called Rosie, not that she would deign to lower herself to answer her name or respond in any way.

I have a photo on my phone of my Cone Snail shell collection. I'd like to put it on this thread, but I'm not sure how to. Do I need to have a photobucket account or is there another way I can post my photo on this thread?

Hope you got all the info you need from the PM, ED smile

A treasure chest! I might have posted a photo of this before? It's an old steamer trunk from the late 1800s but that's not nearly as cool as it being a treasure chest. wink

Elusive Dream welcome.
Up at the top of this forum are instructions on posting photos. I have always used Photobuck as I am a technoklutz and it is Ok for my limited abilities. Photobucket gives you a section to copy (called image) and you literally paste it into here.Hopefully the thread on posting will help. Look forward to your snailshells!
Guide here
JIll that's a great chest Reminds me of the one we had which we kept full of dressing up clothes when I was small.

Dresden Cathedral commissioned by Augustus III, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland and built between 1739 and 1755. Another of the buildings badly damaged by the allied bombing during World War II and restored in the mid 1980's.

Last Sunday (March 22nd) I was at Wembley stadium to see Bristol City's cup final match
against Walsall which we (City) won 2-0 to become the first team to win the trophy 3 times.
There were over 72,000 fans there by the time the match began, I arrived early as you can see.

Is 72, 000 full capacity, Martin? I'm not sure why, but it looks rally cosy. I just wonder if we spread ours out a bit more here or a bit of an optical illusion smile

This arvo I am watching the cricket .. Australia v India in the World Cup semi.
