A friend of mine is from Croydon. Note the word from.

Two of the roses I 'planted' in the front garden last year didn't do well. *sniff* Serves me right for buying cheap roses. Anyway, they were both still in pots so in the autumn I just pulled the pots up and brought them round the back of the house where one promptly flowered and the other, just as promptly, died. It was cold, wet, and rainy so I left it pushed against the back wall of the house; the prevailing wind blows in that direction so my pot-with-dead-rose attracted ... these:

Sadly, the rose is still dead.

I haven't contributed anything here for some time as I've been quite ill for all of the winter. Hopefully they now know what is wrong with me and I hope to be out and about with the camera again soon.

In the meantime looking at everyone elses photos has cheered me up no end.

Aww, Chris I'm sorry to hear that you've been ill but glad to know they are sorting it out for you. As a small token, please accept this bunch of daffs - before the birds strip all of them.

I hope you get out and about soon - I've missed your pics!

Thanks flopsy.

I want to get out and about - it's Spring and my garden needs me. Hopefully not much longer now.

One of the many views across east London from Alexandra Palace, oddly the first time I've got round to it.

The new stand at Bristol City's ground is slowly but surely taking shape. I really hope it's
finished by the time the next season starts in August - I've just bought a season ticket in it!

Following the river on the train from Dresden to Prague though I am not sure if I am still in Germany or in the Czech Republic.

Slowly getting out and about and finding my garden is actually thriving on healthy neglect, as this tub shows

Ooh, very pretty. And the primulas at the back look better than mine so "leave well alone" is a good gardener's motto.

Sadly, left alone, bindweed can strangle the world!

Bindweed is the bane of my life! Sadly my one and only next door neighbour does nothing to her garden, it is a complete tp and bindweed and brambles come over from her side. The brambles I just cut back to just her side of the fence, but oh the bindweed! I dig it, put that selective weed killer on the leaves, wage war on it all summer long but getting rid of it while it is rooting and spreading her side is impossible.

Tell you how bad her side is. We had someone doing some work on our flat roof at the back and he asked me if we had gypsies living next door because of the rusting cars, old caravan and general junk lying around in there.

Chris, I've taken the bindweed discussion over to the Gardening thread.

If I catch what's been eating my primulas, they'll be sorry!

But not as sorry as the caterpillar I caught munching my lupins today!

Wow, Copago. That is so beautiful (both nature and the photo!), I love it.

Plus it complements perfectly the stunning photos of sunrises and sunsets that Howie has been treating us to.

smile

Very belated thank you to Auntie for the very interesting egg story. 'Fairy egg' is a great name. And the yolky photo was lovely, by the way, like a sun, I thought.

Copago, do you remember which day it was? We had quite a series of nights with a beautiful moon and Venus aside it. I just have a pretty weak camera function on a mini-tablet which does not takes pictures of moon - very frustrating! I am trying to find some poor pics I took last month, to put one up here and would be so interested if we were taking them on the same day. Or night, I mean. laugh
