We stayed in Mangonui for the night before heading to Cape Reinga, just a small town but has an excellent fish and chip shop. Anyway, this is Mangonui wharf and some fishing boats.

Great photo! We used to have jackrabbits near us in California but you could never get close enough to them to get a photo.

It has been a while since we last saw a banded dotterel so I went out stalking them again...

We go to Reading a few times a year but hadn't been to see the Thames at nearby Caversham before. It was a nice day so we took a walk from Reading's centre to there. I saw this scary-looking wood carving on 'View Island'.

Hey, my sister lives in Reading, that might be her... it isn't but she can be pretty scarey. wink

Here's black and white photo which is only b&w because it just is. A tree trunk in downtown Budapest:

That's an interesting looking tree trunk. I find they can make good photos too. I'll post a photo of one tomorrow. I'll look out for your sister next time I'm in Reading. It seems she won't be too difficult to recognise (just joking of course). laugh

Pretty good likeness if you ask me... I did NOT say that!

We all put addresses we know into Google Earth, don't we? I got a real shock when I put in my sister's postcode - up came her house and there she was! Turned away from the camera so they didn't have to blur her face but otherwise a good likeness!

I work my round the compass points with the camera, the longer the days the further I go. I did two to Reading due to the traffic the first time, so went north of the river the next as I knew I could bypass the gridlock that way which meant Caversham. I've got my plans for 2015 written up now, with A and B lists depending on circumstances, and Andover was spotted by chance on the road map as a bonus on Sunday.

Another view from Stokes Field

We have a tropical style garden and Maynooth likes carving sections of tree-trunks into tikis. Here is one of his creations.

Last Autumn I visited a local nursery and they had some viola plants that looked pretty sick and they were giving them away. Well, I put them in a couple of planters, watered them well, gave them some food, and they have flowered like this all winter long and are still going strong.

My brother-in-law has made a few Tiki carvings too. I'll have to look out some pics. I've just been looking through all of this month's photos and loving all of them smile That jackrabbit certainly has a fine pair of ears!

I'm going to fall back on my favourite subject - Precious waiting patiently for her treat.

Today was an unusually warm (22C) late autumn day so I went for a stroll along the beach.

Ooh, I like the fierce wood things. When I win the lottery I'm going to have a garden big enough to have huge startling heads! I shall of course also own a beach to stroll along and a swannery. I assume you took that picture with a zoom lens, tellywellies - no one should get close to a nesting swan. Or between Precious and her treats. smile

I had to be content with watching the sun beginning to set over Lord Spencer's wall...
