I don't think they're stone houses, Sat, not in Turville - I think they're brick, faced with flints, which of course is a stone... wink

And Howie, awwwwwwwww. I want him/her! A sheepdog? or something else? What?

Awww Quite right! Oh Howie what a gorgeous sight! Please do tell.
As to Sue's lawn I am trying to get her to accept a gnome or two. No dice.Or even one of those ceramic dog's tails that look as though the dog is digging.

Hahaha! My new(ish) neighbours have two cats who dig in my garden to claim it as their territory so I thought one of the digging dogs might do the trick... "does not ship to the UK" well, shucks yaboo.

Oh no, please don't - I shall be moving at some point and may not have a garden. And I don't need a dog digging up the carpet, lol!

But thank you for the thought. smile

Okay... that's a magpie. And much as I wouldn't want any creature to be injured or die an 'orrible death, that's still a magpie. They kill baby birds all over the place!

Put it in a box in a quiet room, on something soft like an old towel, put a saucer of water in the box with it and then fold the top over so that it's dark. And then leave it alone until tomorrow. If it lives it lives, but usually it's shock that kills birds found by humans.

I'm sure you knew that already so what exactly is the French for "go teach your grannie to suck eggs"? Or the Gaelic? I'm easy. grin

I'm not a big fan of magpies, but this one was pitiful. He didn't even attempt to peck at us and my son petted its head without any nasty nips. He was definitely in shock.

I'm also a bit of a believer in letting nature take its course, especially where wild animals that are not endangered are concerned. We'll make him as comfortable as possible for the night and see what the dawn brings.

He is a Chinese Crested Powder Puff/Papillon cross and still has no name, about 10 weeks old.

Thanks flopsy, it's not possible to know what's under the cladding or if it's cladding or not. And welcome to the new member of your family Howie.

Buckinghamshire countryside near the previous ones. I did 124 usable photos on Sunday which isn't bad for one afternoon.

You could call him "Hudie", pronounced who-deer - which is Chinese for butterfly. But he's still cute, whatever you call him. smile

This is the start of a green ant nest. Green ants are also called weaver ants because they weave leaves together to form nests. The leaves are bound with silk produced by their larvae.
