He's keeping an eye on you, MiraJane. smile

And the size is fine, it looks bigger because it's square but the dimensions are okay - the longest edge is 640px and so is the other one!

Unfortunately I cannot show any photos from the canoeing trip along the Berounka River as I did not take them so instead a few more from Prague. The day started with a visit to Prague Zoo but I will not show any of these photos before we headed to Krizikova Fountain as night started to approach. The fountain had various coloured lights that lit up the water and there was a Three Tenors concert being played, the video of which was being screened on the water of the fountain. My camera was very poor for night shots so I apologise for the poor quality but you may be able to work out the blobs are the Three Tenors.... laugh

What a wonderful, creative idea to have a concert screened onto a fountain's water!

We had some serious fog on Sunday, I'll add the best one later but this was outside my gym just after I got there.

When I got home from work yesterday, I found this little fellow on my windowsill. Most of the grasshoppers we see around here tend to be no more than an inch long. This one was 3 to 4 inches long and gigantic compared to the normal ones. He (or she) did not appear to be injured and he patiently allowed me to get right up close and take a multitude of photos. I even stroked him at one point and he moved a little, but did not take off. It was fascinating to get up so close and observe the details of his anatomy such as his compound eye and his spiracles. I tried to identify him and I think he is a Giant Grasshopper or Hedge Grasshopper, Valanga irregularis.

He is gorgeous, what a character!
Here is another old pic from me I must get camera fixed.

This is what my mum called a "tunnel of green gloom'. She was very keen on quoting from poems etc, heaven knows where that one comes from. Anyway. Somewhere in Gloucestershire.
Yes! It dawned on me, its from Granchester by Rupert Brooke:
Oh! there the chestnuts, summer through,
Beside the river make for you
A tunnel of green gloom, and sleep
Deeply above; and green and deep
The stream mysterious glides beneath,
Green as a dream and deep as death.
I should have known as I can recite it nearly all in full, and she could do it all.

Quentin with some of his stuffed toys. I was able to save the tiger one. The small hedgehog toy in the front squeaked. I should be able to replace that one for him.

Hard to tell if that last photo, MiraJane, is a photo of a photo of Quentin or if it's Quentin posing as a photo!

That grasshopper made me go on a google hunt through Australian Giant Grasshopper images and oh boy, some of them are huge! And now something makes sense... all those tales I read as a child, stories of Australian settlers struggling to stay alive in the bush, riding brumbies, and learning from the aboriginals about eating insects... "surely," I thought "it would take so much energy to catch enough to eat it would hardly be worth it..." In my English head grasshoppers are about an inch long but in some of the images I saw, those grasshoppers were the size of a rabbit!

I have a feeling I may have posted this photo before but it is going to be one of the 12 photos for the 2016 calendar - duck pond and rotunda at the Timaru Botanical Gardens.

The best view of my house that I could get. All the other pictures are really depressing to look at.
