Hi, there trivia lovers!
Some things can be seen in my profile, please visit!
I am 55, have been playing trivia for decades. I am formerly from Buzztime on facebook(plug was pulled) and FreeRice trivia(login is next to dead)

So, here I am, learning about your wonderful site, it's very challenging, even for a veteran like myself, and a lot of fun too.
Lots more perusing this community for me.
I am of Welsh and Finnish origin (see username) Govannon is the Welsh `God of the Forge'. I have been interested in myths since I was a kid.

I work as a security guard, looking for work in Construction, tech or other. The market is very tough here.
I have a seasonal business in snow and ice removal, here in Whitehorse, I am formerly of Toronto. I just made it as a `young man' going West, in `05.

My interests also include photography, stamps, and coins, lately, I have been reading more pulp fiction, though I more regularly read non-fiction such as war history and psychology/sociology.

That's it for now, feeling peckish, must look into putting my meat pie into the microwave.

See you on the threads, and in the Games!

Gov

Hey there, thanks, postcards!

I am looking around the forums here, many old threads, some squabbling in the past.
Current events, helpful posts by mods, this is a fairly old forum.
Decorum and spelling etc is important here, I like that.
I like topic discussions too, those that are ongoing, but some might be `controversial topics' so strong opinions seem to lead to `trouble'.

As a long time history buff, maybe an `off topic' forum would be a good idea, with appropriate troll catching and/or ban instituted.

Anyway, time to get back to the Games, its good to see you.

Hi Gov

Welcome.

I visited the Yukon many, many years ago. Lived in Toronto for about 10 years. Now I live in a much warmer place.

Hi there veronica and sisterseagull. It's good to hear from you.
I do happen to have a few snaps of Yukon.
They are on the hard drive, no option apparently to upload.

I am having Avatar issues(pm'd Sue)-linking that is.
I did find a thread with a link to av's, but cannot get it to work for me, yet.

We have been having warmer winters for the last three years, less snow, under -40 F

Yay! I loaded a good av., this is subject to change. I am looking for an av of 80 by 80 on the Net for `Govannon'. Four sites were meant for kids and yutes, I must check rules for posting of links for sites in my posts. I know its not allowed in our sigs.
There is a thread somewhere for this.

I hit my personal best for Easy Trivia in Triathlon, 965 score!
As well, such interesting names for groups!
I am in `The Usual Suspects'
I particularly like beating `The Devils Advocates' and `The Australians'.
So many good brains here.

-5 C 4:45 am see y'all later!

Gov

add: I found out no links in posts, ok but I think googling avatarbox is ok.

If you use Photobox then you would be most welcome in Photo a day, I am sure that members would love to see some photos of your area.

Hi, Sue!

thanks for the tip(you mean `box' not `bucket', right?). I will google them.
A registration is likely, with the usual info required, I suspect.
I have some good shots of a few years back, and I will check my p-bucket account.

So, Barbarinni got 983 points on `Easy' in Triathalon. Wow! This is 18 seconds, approximately, faster than me. How do they do it?
Speed reading and very nimble fingers I suspect.

7 C a warm evening.

Good morning/afternoon!
I am watching the tributes to Vimy Ridge on the tube, it started yesterday. Some real touching moments.

Since the early morning, many ties in the games. I got my personal best a few minutes ago in Triathalon-Easier 958 pits! at a blistering pace of 32.23 seconds!

It really is a `united nations' here.
I see a few of my extraction, Finnish and Welsh! Kuinka voit and yehe da!
Too bad my photobucket is down, I would post some pics.

-1 C g'day!

Hi there, satguru, and thanks!
You have been around here for a long time!
Maybe a `first-year' member?

Today, it seemed like the `super-heavyweights' in players were around!
I saw a 975 and maybe more on `Easier' game.
I played in the tournament and hope to advance.
So many new challenges!
Maybe time for a nap later, a bit overtired.

6 c and cloudy.

Interesting existential Q or your sig, satguru.
Hmmm, we must first agree on a definition of `consciousness'
Much thought required, for now, I say the brain creates it, after birth, of course.
I think, therefore I am?

Therefore, I say, yes, the brain does create consciousness.

Good evening/morning, funtrivia fans!

I got another `difficult' challenge done, yay, this one had me play 18 games!
I had to get at least seven correct on them, each.

I don't like where I have time to play a game such as: Who's the expert? where there were two minutes to play, and then my score doesn't even count!
I HAD enough time! But no, I was robbed, grrrr!

Now watching the Mentalist, and looking for another game. I hate wasting my time with games that don't reward my effort! The above complaint has occurred at least three times, in the last two days.

Soon time to get some burritos for dinner...later!

I was a second year forum member if they were begun in this form in September 1999, but the message boards existing before that and the site began in 1995. In fact until the day I registered here I used the library internet and anywhere else I could get on, and was given an old computer for work and signed up here the day I went online.

I'm glad you've mentioned my quote, you're the first since I changed it. In fact a new study came out last week confirming Aldous Huxley's theory the brain actually filters what comes into it rather than creating most of what we know and perceive. I'll find it and put it here in the forums now I think of it. Eastern culture believes there is only one consciousness and each body is filtering it individually while it is alive, but it then persists eternally.

satguru: good morning, and thanks for filling me in. Yes, this site has been around for some time.

I used to play NTN at the bars/restaurants in Toronto, around the time mentioned in your post, lots of fun.

I like what you wrote about Huxley and Eastern culture; I agree with brain filtering.
We are designed to learn by sight, not assigning words to what we see. this is learned, not innate.

A busy morning on the quizzes, games, and I won my first `Knockout' tournament too!

I'm getting sleepy now, was amused by some of the names of groups here such as: Yes, we're babes!' and `Vixens'...they sound cute!

-4 C mostly sunny, I look forward to your next visit.

I would highly recommend starting a virtual blog where you can have an entire thread to yourself. They used to be very popular when they started. I'd like to see them get busier again.

I think I know what you mean, do you mean the threads here, or something else?

A virtual blog satguru? hmmm.

Happy Easter, trivia lovers!

Recently, I have discovered the `Piece of cake' game on Triathalon, is anything but this, at least at
certain times.
So many close scores in the top ten and more, a matter of seconds, or even fractions of them!

Partly cloudy, 8 C carrie on folks!
