The Masters
PGA Golf
April 5-8, 2018

The Rules
1. Everyone will pick 5 golfers.

2. We may have a maximum of 2 golfers from the top 10 of world rankings as of March 29, 2018 in our fivesomes. The current top 10 is:

-Dustin Johnson (USA)
-Justin Thomas (USA)
-Jon Rahm (ESP)
-Jordan Spieth (USA)
-Justin Rose (ENG)
-Hideki Matsuyama (JPN)
-Rory McIlroy (NIR)
-Rickie Fowler (USA)
-Sergio Garcia (ESP)
-Brooks Koepka (USA)

Retrieved from: http://www.owgr.com/ranking

3. The lowest 4 total scores from each tipper’s fivesome will be added together to make the final score, and the lowest total score wins.

4. If one of your golfers fails to make the cut, his score from the first two rounds will be doubled to account for his final two rounds.
-A golfer must finish the first two rounds in order for his score to be counted towards the total

Tiebreaker
The lowest score from each tipper’s fifth golfer will serve as the tiebreaker. Should that be the same, it will go to the fourth-highest score and so on.

Sign in with your teams below, and good luck!

The final list of participants can be found at:
http://www.masters.com/en_US/players/player_list.html

Deadline: 6:30 AM Thursday April 5 FT time with no grace period

Unfortunately the first tee time was 6:30 AM FT time so I won't be able to accept gtho4 or George95's picks. I usually try to be as lenient as possible to encourage participation but I can't guarantee how picks might've been influenced after the first tee time - sorry guys.

shocked shocked 4 day tournament ...how would the first hour of play on day 1 affect the whole result? They are only an hour late. Maybe you should take them and if you MUST, have some other penalty for late picks...

just my 2 cents please...your tournament, your call...

My inclination is to accept all picks, but it is impossible to say if they would've picked someone but saw they didn't start well so they went with other golfers. My deadlines are always as late as possible to include as many tippers as possible so while I don't necessarily want to keep them out I do think it's fair.

Yeah, that's fine to keep us out. The deadline for this comp was the actual start of the tournament and not some arbitrary deadline (looking at the NFL comp wink ) . I guess you could score George and I but leave us out of the rankings if we happen to medal. I left this one just a bit too late.

That Thursday thing is 2½ hours prior to kickoff, and the rest has been Friday midnight since I started participating (in 2005!).

agreed, leave the two Georges out of the medals. I thought I'd made it with 15 minutes to spare, but forgot we'd ended DST on the weekend, doh

1. wwe84
2. dg_dave
3. Dizart

  • wwe84 put together a dynamite team and completely ran away with the Masters this year, topping the official competition by 8 strokes, with 3 different golfers going under 280 strokes. Congratulations!

  • George95 and gtho4 unfortunately submitted their picks after the first tee time. George95 put together a great team, which would have finished second. However, it is dg_dave, who wins in a tiebreaker over Dizart, who comes home with silver. dg_dave’s fifth golfer, Adam Scott, shot a 289, while Dizart’s fifth golfer, Alexander Noren, missed the cut and ended with a score of 306.

  • Nobody took the winner of the Masters this year, Patrick Reed. Reed was tied for 4th after the end of Thursday, but made his way to the top of the leaderboard by Friday, and after Saturday led by 3 strokes over Rory McIlroy. As McIlroy faded on Sunday, Reed held steady and held off Rickie Fowler by a stroke to take home the green jacket.

  • Jordan Spieth, despite finishing third, was the other big story on Sunday. He came into the round tied for 9th and down by 9 strokes, but birdied the first 2 holes and finished the front 9 at 5-under par, and later added another 4 birdies before bogeying #18 to just miss tying for second and a stroke under the lead.

  • The All-Not Taken Team consisted of Patrick Reed, Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, and Henrik Stenson, who would have totaled an impressive 1108.

  • The U.S. Open this year will be held on June 14-17 at Shinnecock Hills in New York.
