Hi everyone,

It's been a sad weekend/start of the week for Mexico, so what I'll do is hang on until the end of tomorrow, so I can do a recap of the entire round of 16. Thank you for your understanding and continued discussion on this thread.

I think Colombia is confused and think they’re at a group wrestling match!

I’ve seen almost every match thus far in the tournament, and Colombia’s play against England has been the dirtiest by far.

That’s too bad, Vee. It’s quite an exciting rumble. England up 1-0 from a Harry Kane PK. They have controlled the game, with numerous shots (some on frame.) Colombia has had multiple yellow cards—4 or 5, I’ve lost track.

Are you from England, Veronica? Or just supporting them?

The analysts just said England’s shootout jinx is finally over. I ‘m so glad. Colombia going on would have been a travesty.

Dreadful refereeing. But... England won a penalty shootout! I never thought I'd live to see the day.

I’ve seen Mark Geiger ref a number of times, and he’s always done a solid job. He just let the game get totally out of hand. I wonder if he had red carded the player that fouled Harry Kane and led to the PK it might have made Colombia control themselves a little better. The analysts here felt it was a clear red card.

He should have sent Barrios off in the first half for head-butting Henderson - because he didn't do that, Colombia just got worse and worse.

This World Cup keeps on delivering!
What a great Belgium - Brazil match; I don't think anyone would have been surprised if Brazil had scored an equaliser. At least we will be spared Neymar's theatrics for the rest of the tournament, which can only be a good thing.
As for the other match, I think Uruguay's goalkeeper would be well advised to hop on a train and go into self-imposed exile in Siberia.
No Latin American teams left. ¡Qué lástima!

As usual couldn't get the match but read a terrible blog:

Flag is still flying!
