The Open Championship
PGA Golf
July 19-22, 2018

Howie72 won this in 2017. wwe84 and srini701 won the Masters and the US Open comps this year.

The Rules
1. Everyone will pick 5 golfers.

2. We may have a maximum of 2 golfers from the top 10 of world rankings as of July 12, 2018 in our fivesomes. The current top 10 is:

1. Dustin Johnson
2. Justin Thomas
3. Justin Rose
4. Brooks Koepka
5. Jon Rahm
6. Jordan Spieth
7. Rickie Fowler
8. Rory McIlroy
9. Jason Day
10. Tommy Fleetwood

Retrieved from: http://www.owgr.com/ranking

3. The lowest 4 total scores from each tipper’s fivesome will be added together to make the final score, and the lowest total score wins.

4. If one of your golfers fails to make the cut, his score from the first two rounds will be doubled to account for his final two rounds.
-A golfer must finish the first two rounds in order for his score to be counted towards the total

Tiebreaker
The lowest score from each tipper’s fifth golfer will serve as the tiebreaker. Should that be the same, it will go to the fourth-highest score and so on.

Sign in with your teams below, and good luck!

The final list of participants can be found at:
https://www.theopen.com/Players

Deadline: First tee time, roughly 11:25 PM July 19 FT time (6:25 AM local)

  • Italy’s Francesco Molinari emerged from the pack on a thrilling final day at Carnoustie to win the British Open, seeing off the challenges of reigning champion Jordan Spieth and a revived Tiger Woods to win the first major of his career. Molinari produced a bogey-free final round under the most extreme pressure to end eight-under, two strokes clear of the field, and become the first Italian to win a major golf title.

  • It made sense that only one of us here, George95, even had Molinari in our teams here: in ten previous appearances at the world’s oldest major, the Italian had missed four cuts, and only once had he finished inside the top 10 - back in 2013.

  • But George95's faith in Molinari paid off, as he won our comp here by a whopping 9 strokes! He strung together a killer team that also included Tiger Woods and Tommy Fleetwood, and is a runaway winner. PaulE takes home a very very respectable silver, 2 strokes ahead of ElfTwinkle, who held off ozzz2002 by just a single stroke for the bronze. Three others are another stroke behind ozzz2002....that's how close the rest of us were behind George95!

  • The All-Not Taken Team consisted of Kisner, McIlroy ( ), Schauffele and Chappell, who would have totaled a most impressive 1113 (and won our comp by 7 strokes!)

  • The Next Major on the calendar is The PGA Championships, which will be held between August 9-12 at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country, Missouri. See you all then!
