Ebooks are also available through some libraries. I'm in the U.S. and Alabama has a program called Overdrive. You can borrow both ebooks and audio books using your local library membership. They have a wonderful selection, mostly newer books. Other states are also members. There is another system I just learned about from a friend in Georgia, but she is dissatisfied with their selection. And of course if you are into classics, Project Gutenberg has thousands (literally) of free ebooks to download and keep forever.
