I was watching the Food Network last night (quickly becoming one of my favorite channels), and they had an ad for the network. They were listing some of the good things to be found when watching the channel - things like "Nostalgia", "Great recipes", etc. Then, they flashed up "Fun Trivia." I was eating at the time and almost choked on my salad - I had to do a doubletake to make sure that's really what it said.

I know it wasn't really about us. But, for a brief moment, it did startle me a bit. My brain took a second to remember that the words "fun trivia" can occasionally mean something besides this website! (Hard to believe, I know, but other people do sometimes use those two words together!)

I've done that before - see the words fun and trivia together and get all excited.

In fact, whenever I see anything about trivia, I have to read (Or watch) to see if something is said about this site!

I love the Food Network! I'm learning so much about cooking and all kinds of great tricks to use when fixing meals.

There are a lot of great shows on there (in my opinion). I especially love Alton Brown's "Good Eats", Rachael Ray, and, of course, "Oliver's Twist" (Jamie)!

Take a look at their website - www.foodtv.com. You can get a feel for what the channel is all about as well as some great recipes.

When I get home from work I grab a glass of wine turn on the
Food Network (Rachel and Jamie are my favorites) and play on FT. Most relaxing.

What I can't understand about the food programmes is why do they have to disguise the taste of real food - You cannot improve on a carrot pulled from the ground washed in the rain tub and eaten thereand then (no cooking) or a rare steak (just oozing in the middle) with no gravy or sauces. Surely the quality of the food is what makes it palateble or not, not the fancy flavours that you have to add to make it edible (or even enjoyable).
