Hi,
I'd like to recommend a book I literally discovered at a sale. It's called'The Road to Nab End' by William Woodruff. It tells the story of the author's youth in the weaving community of Blackburn in England. It's really delightful, full of innocent fun and yet mindful of the hardships of the time. The style is so vivid, I can picture all the characters as if I knew them all. I could not put the book down. So if you like a really good read then this is for you . Ten out of ten from me.

Which brings ME to recommend the unputdownable one I have on the go at the moment. It was a birthday present and so good:
"Any Human Heart"by William Boyd.
It examines the life of a writer. It is funny and very ingenious and at times you ask your self if he really lived, as there are very authentic looking footnotes and in the back is an index, which refers to all the people he 'met',places he went to etc. I am really enjoying it.
