Which brings ME to recommend the unputdownable one I have on the go at the moment. It was a birthday present and so good:
"Any Human Heart"by William Boyd.
It examines the life of a writer. It is funny and very ingenious and at times you ask your self if he really lived, as there are very authentic looking footnotes and in the back is an index, which refers to all the people he 'met',places he went to etc. I am really enjoying it.
