Franz Ferdinand were my favourite for ages but I'm not quite so obsessed with them now. I love System of a Down, the Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party actually there's loads I like. Jack & Meg are closely followed by two one-man bands (accompanied by whoever the one-man chooses), The Bevis Frond and Iron & Wine. Then in 4th place it's the Black Keys.

Someone said ' my current favourites' and this, I think is a good point to start. There are favourite bands and there are great bands. I recognise that I am growing very old. I have heard some of the bands mentioned, I have heard of some of them and some I've never heard of and never heard either. I suppose if some are still about or being played 20 years on, they are not just worthy of being favourites but also being great bands. I know there are bands (not of my era that are and have been long established and remain very popular. However, sometimes I hear today's bands and think 'Yes, I like that and the band sounds very good.' Then one song or one album seems to be it. Maybe the younger people can tell me why some potentially good bands seem to fade off the scene so quickly. Is it something to do with the way record companies operate?
