Towards the end of 2003 Sophie Delezio had a car come through her daycare and burst into flames. She suffered burns to over 80% of her body, had both feet, numerous fingers and an ear amputated and was not expected to survive. She turned five this year and started school.

Yesterday she was hit by a car and is now in intensive care with multiple fractures, lung and head injuries. Daily Telegraph.

That just sucks.

Two accidents, both times hit by vehicles driven by an older man. How horrible what this little life has had to endure in such a short span. I couldn't imagine what her parents are going through right now. It IS so unfair that she should suffer at all let alone twice, I hope that she pulls through.

I understand from the report that the man who hit her this time was being treated for shock at a local hospital. Given his age I wonder what the stress of knowing what he's done will have on him. Terrible for all involved. This story will be in my thoughts for weeks to come.

That's so sad. I always wonder when I hear stories like that what God's mysterious plan regarding the poor child's pain is supposed to be. But I have to believe that it's something. Otherwise, the sadness is just too unbearable.

Here we are a few months later and Sophie is back at school and going well by all reports.
